Now it makes me wonder if it's just heavyweight champs from Sullivan to Fury how they would ranked in a nickname only list lol.
What's wrong with "the Old Mongoose" (Archie Moore)? Or "Baby Face" (Jimmy McLarnin)? Or "the Brockton Blockbuster" (Rocky Marciano)? Or "Hurricane" (Ruben Carter, Hurricane Henry [Armstrong])" Or "the Herkimer Hurricane" (Lou Ambers)? Or "the Jewel of the Ghetto" (Sid Terris)? Or "the Fighting Harp" (Mike O'Dowd)? Or "the Phantom" (Mike Gibbons)? Or "the Aberdeen Assassin" (Leo Lomski)? Or "the Savage Slav" (Al Hostak)? Or "the Cinderella Man" (James J. Braddock)? Or "Unknown Winston" (Ed Winston)? Or "the Old Master" (Joe Gans)? Or "the Toy Bulldog" (Mickey Walker)? Or "the Pittsburgh Windmill" (Harry Greb)? Or "the Fargo Express" (Billy Petrolle) Or "Battling Bozo" (Curtis Hambright)? Or "Slapsy Maxie" (Maxie Rosenbloom)? probably the most descriptive name of them all I still revere names like "Tiger," "Gorilla," "Little Chocolate," "Bearcat, etc., but I guess in some instances they might be considered patronizing so I am avoiding assigning particular fighters to them.
The Old Mongoose is #15 on my top 20 and the Brockton Blockbuster is #89 on my top 100. Everything else you mentioned didnt make the cut.
"The Ghetto Wizard'' Benny Leonard ''The Giant Killer'' Charley Burley ''The Cincinnati Cobra'' Ezzard Charles ''El Flaco Explosivo'' Alexis Arguello ''The Michigan Assassin'' Stanley Ketchel ''The Galvaston Giant'' Jack Johnson ''The Cuban Hawk'' Kid Gavilan ''Mormon Mauler'' Gene Fullmer ''The Mighty Atom'' Jimmy Wilde I'm almost upset that those haven't been mentioned yet. They're absolute bangers.
How about these ones: Billy " The Fargo Express" Petrolle; Sammy " The Clutch" Angott; Lou " The Herkimer Hurricane" Ambers; Barney "The Pride of the Ghetto" Ross; Sammy "Little Dynamite" Fuller; Kid "The Cuban Bon Bon" Chocolate; Al "Battling Bronco of the Bronx" Singer; Jimmy "Mighty Atom" Wilde;
I don’t like him and he’s not a real boxer but I do like “The Problem Child” for Jake Paul..so very apt. “Gotcha Hat” isn’t too bad either.
