I said Foster was giving him problems in the beginning of the fight.Which he did with his jab. Ali adjusted and ran away with fight. Be specific old man.
Heeney was slow and no puncher, Carpentier was washed up,Tunney could afford to go on the offensive against them.
Ali by an easy decision or a late knockout, but it won't be easy early on. IMO it takes him a little while to figure Tunney out, I give Tunney more props than a lot of folks here as a champion, but when Ali gets into gear that's all she wrote. The physical and speed advantages are just too great.
Sure .and how would the Tunney that the 162lbs Greb beat the **** out of have done with the 212lbs Ali that destroyed Williams?
Doug Jones and Ken Norton gave Ali trouble with their jabs, so it’s not impossible that Tunney could as well. However, it’s equally possible that Ali doesn’t respect Tunney’s power and batters him like he did Jimmy Ellis and other undersized fighters. It’s a toss up.
A couple of even rounds but Foster didn't 'win' any. I actually think Bob had a go here, in a "Dragline vs Cool Hand Luke" kinda way.
Scorecards for Ali-Foster Bob Foster 180 lbs lost to Muhammad Ali 221 lbs by KO at 0:40 in round 8 of 12 Date: 1972-11-21 Location: Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Stateline, Nevada, USA Referee: Mills Lane Judge: Anthony Smercina 27-35 Judge: Bill Stremmell 27-35 Judge: Wally Rusk 28-35 Muhammad Ali vs. Bob Foster - BoxRec 7-0/7-0/ And Wally had one round even.
You still haven't given an explanation as to why Ali beats Tunney. You just hid behind someone else's comment.
I think this is fair, Gene's jab and swift movement would see some success, but how many rounds he could actually 'win' is another
I have the impression that you commented on my post without reading it. I said PEAK Gene Tunney (for me the one who beat Dempsey) has a chance to beat the post Manila Muhammad Ali, or the green Cassius Clay (not the Clay who beat Liston, but before that). I certainly wasn't referring to LightHeavyweight Gene Tunney (who lost to Greb). Cleveland Williams does not at all fit the meaning of what I wrote.
