Depends really. People tend to forget he broke or nearly broke some curious boxing records if I remember correctly, and his style if often baselessly critiqued, but I reckon he gets a lot of recognition as well.

He's rated just right. Passed the eye test with flying colors but **** poor resume. I think Lennox absolutely did the right thing for himself and his legacy in retiring. But, for me, he was still at almost the peak of his powers, and I would have liked to see the rematch with a fitter Lennox and a more prepared Vitali.

I don't care what anyone says, cut wins are crap.

He's more overrated and definitely has the most overrated chin ever. Still a great fighter but people act like he's unstoppable in fantasy fights

I fully believe fitter Lewis would have knocked his ass out, but Lewis knew he didn't have that dedication anymore, so I don't blame him for going out on top even if it was disappointing how it played out

Overrated by many. I wasn’t impressed with his fight style and he was there to be hit. A prime Lewis vs. Vitali? Lewis knocks him out no question about it.

6 more rounds of pounding on Vitali's eye and he could have qualified for the paralympics.

On the plus side, boxing could save a fortune on ringside doctors. They may need to have a hearse parked outside though.

lol a prime Lewis got smoked by Vitali and won by a lucky cut. He ducked the rematch and retired

Vitali is the greatest H2H fighter in HW history.

    Rated about right.

Excellent heavyweight champion, history is judging him well.

Yeah, and its not worth nothing, but boxing in not primarily a statistical sport. It comes down to who you beat.

I will say this...there are those who massively overate Dempsey, Holmes and Liston, and the same argument can be made about them. The really mouthwatering wins aren't there.

Anyway, overrated because at the end of the day he lost to the two best fighters he faced, and put all the asterixes by it you like.

From what I've seen, some people overrate him, some underrate him, and others got him figured just right. I've enjoyed what I've seen of his fights, but his resume leaves a lot to be desired; he's kinda similar to Tyson Fury and Riddick Bowe in that sense. Incredibly talented, lots of fun fights, very few signature wins. Vitali's signature fight was with Lennox Lewis, and he lost that one. Being one of the first guys to beat Chisora was pretty cool though.
