Well Loma is arguably a top 10 defensive fighter pound for pound

Usyk for me has the most complete defence of the 3, a combination of fantastic movement, head and upper body movement and a string guard. Plus he's doing it vs much bigger men with bigger reaches.

A part of Crawford's style is to intercept counters, roll with in coming shots to land a more effective counter. We saw that with his uppercut vs Spence, he invites a lead left from Spence, Spence throws the left, Crawford rolls with the shot taking away it's power and lands a crushing uppercut that drops Spence. So Bud is willing to sacrifice taking a shot to land a more devastating shot. So would rank him 2nd in terms of defence among these 3.

Inoue, moves well, best movement apart from Usyk and Loma, has good head movement too, but the first Donaire fight showed he can be got to against a relentless opponent who is willing to walk into fire and take shots to land his own. Problem with Inoue is his offence is also a big part of his defence, which is why guys like Butler and Fulton just seem lost in their, Inoue has so many deadly counters it shuts down an opponents offence because they don't dare open up for fear of being KO'ed. Inoue is still improving though, but right now he's 3rd for defence between these guys.

For the moment. I wish someone would crawl over his 20 fights and graph his opponent's connect percentages and see if it made a bell curve. That way we could pinpoint his prime and decline.

Thirteen years ago when Floyd Mayweather Jr was flying high, compubox came out with an article showing that only 14% of his opponents punches landed, the least ever since they started tracking that. Keep in mind, I think they only started tracking Pernell Whitaker toward the end of his career if at all. Three years later and Guillermo Rigondeaux is only getting hit 12% of the time. Lara was down there too. I always thought that it was unfair leaving Mayweather at pound for pound #1 Ring Magazine status for five or six years when he'd clearly declined.

You want to talk crazy? How is GGG still beating Lomachenko and Canelo's connect percentages?
    TOTAL CONNECT PERCENTAGE
    DAVID BENAVIDEZ
    38.4%
    GENNADY GOLOVKIN
    36.5%
    BADOU JACK
    35.6%
    VASILIY LOMACHENKO
    35.5%
    ANTHONY DIRRELL
    35.5%
    SAUL ALVAREZ
    35.4%
    NAOYA INOUE
    35.2%
    GERVONTA DAVIS
    35.2%
    ROMAN GONZALEZ
    35.1%
    CARLOS ADAMES
    35%
    https://beta.compuboxdata.com/

It's also wild to me that Roman Gonzalez is at the top of the punches thrown, punches landed, and connect percentage lists but isn't on people's top 10 p4p. Most power punches landed #1 Roman Gonzalez, Average power punches landed #1 Roman Gonzalez. If this sport were fair, then we would shower him with money and love.

Usyk is hard to hit. He gets hit the least but at the same time the guys he’s fighting are slower.

He's ranked #4 overall but his numbers have obviously gone down in numerous categories and indeed overall because of the huge physical advantages he's routinely giving away, advantages that no one else in either the top CompuBox top 10 or the P4P top 10 is, even Usyk who has only had 5 fights at HW and in one he had a longer reach and the same reach in one of the others.

It was the same at CW, ellerbe. He employs different styles too. Look at his boxing masterclass performance against Gassiev but against some of those other CWs he just stood right in front of them with a high guard and subsequently got hit more. He chose to do that.

And the thing is whilst Usyk is faster than AJ and Dubois they're both pretty fast for huge behemoths and fast enough to land the bomb on a smaller, faster and more elusive CW like Usyk. That's the thing which worried me most other than their savage power. Usyk had to be super switched on and very conscious of that for every single second of every single round because the slightest mistake could've proven fatal.

    Not slow

And the same thing can be said about defensive magician Floyd. He fought an awful lot of bigger, slower plodders.

The most amazing thing about Loma still being ranked #4 by CompuBox even though he's fought much better opposition than everyone ranked above (3 more champions than the rest have combined in way more fights) him in the top 10 (other than the win for Bivol over Clenelo) and is routinely giving away huge physical advantages that no one else in the CompuBox or P4P Top 10s are fighting in a division full of giants (and almost all these 135 pounders he's fought are very big or massive for the weight) is that when he was down at 126 and 130, and he was often giving away weight and reach (almost always reach) down in those divisions to, he was racking up Floyd numbers

'Following his dazzling performance vs. Nicholas Walters, Vasyl Lomachenko takes over the #1 spot on CompuBox's Plus Minus List with a +20.9 rating. He's the highest rated fighter since Floyd Mayweather (+24.5). Lomachenko also ranks #1 in opponents connect pct. at 16.1%-- .7% higher than master boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux.

This stat is so impressive given Loma is the busier offensive fighter (22 of 59.5 per round) to Rigos 11.6 of 49.4 per round. Normally a busier fighter is more susceptible to opponents counters. Mayweather avg'd 16.9 of 38.9 per round.

Money opponents landed 18.9%. Lomachenko lands 49.4% of his power punches, 12.1% higher than the CompuBox average. Lomachenko's opponents land just 22.7% of their power punches, 14.6% lower than the CompuBox average.'

And if you want to talk about someone facing fast opponents

GRJ, Linares, Rigo, and Teofimo are/were all top 10 fastest in the game IMO and a couple top 5 and many also consider Haney one of the fastest in the sport or at least very fast

GRJ was considered the fastest in the entire sport and Loma restricted him to landing 10% of his punches. That's only one of two times Loma has enjoyed a reach advantage and it was only 1'' (Loma is giving away just under 6'' in reach regularly at 135)

    Linares has blazing quick hands

Rigo's counter left is lightening quick

    Teofimo is super quick too

And then also factor in how beautiful he makes it look too. He makes it look like art
