I do think Eubank was drained in the first fight tbh and think he should have won. On the other hand, Smith looked like something was wrong with him in the rematch

Well that does happen in boxing, from what I've seen post fight looks like Smith had a back injury and then had to drop 42 lbs in a very short period of time, and he thought Eubank would walk away if the fight was delayed. Although the Benn fight will obviously be a cash cow and will now be a priority despite it being fairly meaningless in the scheme of things.

You mean like the credit Smith was given for the first fight by CEJ and what seems like millions of his fanboys all over social media when they accused Smith of being a cheat and only winning because of the weight and an alleged elbow which even if it did partially land did absolutely nothing to him and the fact that Smith hurt and dropped him during the first phase of attack was completely ignored?

Those fans are still all over social media today saying the same ie. trying to take Smith's credit from him for that victory whilst conveniently ignoring the fact that Smith was a seriously compromised shell of himself last night.

CEJ looked infinitely better in the first fight than Smith did in the rematch and Smith looking a shell of himself had something to do with CEJ but it had a whole lot more to do with how badly compromised he was, so much so he was completely incapable of doing any of the things he does so expertly and effortlessly.

Just be honest. Smith didn't look bad he looked terrible and CEJ made him look more terrible.

Lol, CEJ is a polarising character for sure! L Smith is so meh it's hard to get excited about anything he says/does IMO.
I'm happy I got to see the athleticism and focus from Jr but the important thing is that the director managed to get a good shot of his uber-cringe, post-fight camera stare
I hope Eubank uses some of his purse to put up billboards of that in Toxteth and Merseyside.

I don't have any intel I just have eyes like you evidently do to have noticed he was a peg-leg cripple, decades worth of experience being a fan and watching countless fights, which includes a lot of Smith's fights.

Why do ppl give a fk about Eubank jr? Hes always been a gimmick.. & it's old now.. beating a shot Liam smith after he just got blasted by a shot Liam Smith proves nothing.. Eubank is ****, always has been.. there are better fighters who never get half the push he has has.. hes a ***** & will get battered again when he steps up if someones dumb enough to give him another shot

You saw all those things, Olu, but you somehow managed to miss the fact the person he was displaying them against was a badly compromised shell of themselves which rendered them completely incapable of doing any of the things they do so expertly and which you've seen them do in every single other fight you've seen of theirs and of course all of their other fights too

Hello. First post here, so sorry if I'm boring, tone deaf, etc!... thought I'd post here instead of making a thread

So, Chris looked sharp, and however poor Liam was (for whatever reason) Chris stills deserves the credit. And am I right in thinking, that this could probably be the easiest time for Chris to pick up a middleweight title. Sidestepping Charlo for the WBC, would we think Chris beats Gualtieri, Alimkhanuly or (Regular) Lara? And do these fights make the money, his potential non-titles fights would. No!

Maybe, in an alternate timeline, if Chris didn't play the villain, had one of the big 3 promotions backing him, and was 8 years younger, these 'collecting the belts' fights would make more sense.

He's obviously a big money fighter, but where does he go after this? Calling out Benn, Brook and GGG aren't exactly the most realistic outcomes atm. And does anyone even care that much?

In a fight if you cannot do what you normally it’s on you to adapt. You know I don’t like this culture of excuses. Many on here were not cutting CEJ any slack after the first fight even if he did not seem his normal self.

I quite like George Groves analysis here in his BBC column.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/66701118

What impressed me the most was that he didn't feel the need to mention that he himself boxed Jr's ears off a few years ago.

Humble guy - Carl Froch take note.

See this clip from the press conference Liam Beefy Smith ankle looks okay to me the way he quickly moved to the melee to calm things down with his team.

You can't adapt when you're body is that badly compromised. Ordinarily I'm a believer in if a fighter isn't doing something it usually has a lot to do with what their opponent is doing but, by the same token, I'm not an idiot who acts like that still applies when one fighter is clearly extremely compromised to the point where that they cannot physically do any of the things they normally do and do so effortlessly.

CEJ looked infinitely better in the first fight than Smith did last night

And if you don't like ''excuses'' you should check out all the ones, and accusations of cheating too, that both CEJ and countless, and when I say countless I do mean countless, of his fans on social media made not only after the first fight but are still making to this day.

The amount Smith fans making ''excuses'' today compared to the amount of CEJ fans on social media who were after the first fight and still are today pales into insignificance even though Smith was clearly severely compromised by his injury.

Social media was absolutely awash with his fans making excuses and accusing Smith of cheating, including CEJ himself lying about the alleged elbow. What alternate dimension are people living in not to have see all that? It's literally night and day in terms of difference.

The weird thing is that a lot of people think Eubank is an imposter, has fought no one, etc. In my opinion he’s actually got a good resume of fighters boxed - BJS, Groves, Degale, Yildrim (undefeated at that point), Abraham, Korobov, Smith x 2, Williams. Even the likes of Spike, Blackwell were not exactly gimmes at the point he boxed them. We have to remember that Eubank had no amateur experience and his first 18 fights he fought no one. It made no sense to fight BJS having fought absolutely no one at that stage, although you have to admire it. Then he got a good run going at 160 and he f*cked off to 168 and this was before the super six was mentioned. Then he started to get run at 168 and he f*cked off back down to fight Korobov (who was literally the worst opponent he could pick for all sorts of reasons) at 160.

Ultimately he’s been terribly managed or managed himself terribly, whichever way you want to cut it. He’s never got any momentum going and while people may say he’s made a few quid, I think his name, personality, fighting style etc is just printing money in the UK.
