Just can't take the haye fights seriously. Haye fell apart before our eyes and was a shadow of his former self. He was clearly injured in both
Prime Haye would have chinned Bellew. Even a two legged, old Haye might have. Glad I'm not the only one who finds him totally insufferable.
I liked Bellew the boxer up until the Haye fights. But he's gotten progressively worse since retirement and now I have the same opinion on him as everyone else on here
He’s horrendous - unscrupulous, hypocritical and absurdly biased. It just detracts from the analysis. It’s negligent of Matchroom really. They know plenty of casual fans watch their shows - why not actually educate them by replacing him with an insightful pundit who’s actually objective? Punditry shouldn’t be used as a propaganda tool. The other thing that I find odd, is I can’t see who actually likes his input.. so what purpose does he serve? Perhaps @dramashow can enlighten me.
I was born in Liverpool down by the docks, religion was Catholic, occupation hard knocks. COYBIG 0-1. By the way, had been a fan of Bellew but hated the whole Haye farce so he did do something wrong in my eyes. I wanted him to beat Usyk but I wouldn’t have been able to stand listening to him if he did so ended up wanting Usyk to win. I was also the only scouser who wanted Groves to beat Smith because i was a huge fan and didn’t want him to retire yet and I knew Callum could come again. I knew he wouldn’t though… Callum never did anything wrong though did he haha.
Seeing pictures and fights of Tony at light heavyweight is a real eye opener. His weight making regime must of been horrendous. Fair play to him.
Bellew was horrendous in pressers as a fighter - constantly screeching and giving it the big one and he’s just as bad as a pundit. Can remember him trying to talk down Usyk telling him that he’ll never quit like he was some kind of warrior turned his back on Stevenson, ducked plenty of fights, ducked the WBSS and got beat by every champion he ever faced.
Why is it fair play to him? Just means he was always the bigger man in the night. Annoys me when fighters are fighting as low as they can and then when they lose they say they had trouble making weight. If they have trouble making weight they are in the wrong division.
I've never got it either. For example Josh Taylor is currently fighting at a lower weight than what he fought at in the Olympics 11 years ago. American/Mexican/Asian fighters certainly seem to go through the weights quicker whereas ours stick around at one weight for years.
