A resume is cumulative and one fight does not make or break the standing of a boxer.

Weak era? He fought for 15 years or whatever. The idea it was weak the whole time is laughable.

Weak division? He fought at MW, which has a massive number of fighters and is always competitive. The weakest divisions are on either side of the average weights.

Avoided people? How many times does it have to be proven that 'star' fighters like Cotto/Canelo avoided him and others also. Even people he fought like Murray and Macklin, the contenders, confirmed that people wouldn't fight him. Even people like Darren Barker confessed that his manager told him to avoid Golovkin. Put the pieces together. Boxers with something to lose are afraid of dangerous punchers!

Few ATGs should be expected to run that gauntlet and come out unbeaten!

I won't let two robberies affect my opinion, he gets credit for two out of three of their fights. Both extremely competitive but both are wins for GGG.

Golovkin was a force enough to beat a juiced Canelo twice. Just because he didn't mow him down don't mean it wasn't impressive. Who mows down Canelo?

Canelo twice. Pretty solid right? Now add 20 title defenses with (18) by KO.

Yep Murray and Macklin both did real well with two of the champs that avoided GGG, while GGG destroyed both of them. The GGG haters call them bums once he destroys them, but they are big wins for the other champs.

ATG talent, but didn’t do enough. He’s borderline for me though. 23 ko streak, around 20+ title defenses I believe, and all of his best wins came when he was past his best. Also, about 90% of this forum including me believes that he beat Canelo 2x. If he gets one more good win at his age it might just seal the deal for me. H2H he’s top 5 easily imo.

He's top 10, possibly even top 5 all time MW...that makes him an ATG without doubt.

    Regular WBA means nothing.

Unless you think Haney isn't undisputed until he fights Davis.

Golovkin was the truth, defending his title, while the others ran from him. When Geale did unify vs Sturm he emediatly vacated his WBA super to avoid fighting GGG who he dominated him in the amateurs. That was right before the Rosado fight. He was the best right off the bat. Won his world title and defended it 20 consecutive times.

He defended a worthless title nobody recognises - or should recognise - for 10 fights, then won a proper one.

He has nine defences. Anything else is simply the mental gymnastics of a fanboy.

Half of those defences were WBA Regular. Felix Sturm was the full WBA holder.
Povetkin made 4 defences of the Regular WBA. Nobody really considers him a reigning champ because WK was the proper Champ

How many of the WBA regular defences were ranked within the top 10? Most of them were non- rankers. Soup cans. Guys Chris Ebanks Jr would beat.
