He’s ahead of those three, but not an ATG. I’m pretty sure Vuyani Bungu posted a similar resume in term of title defenses and quality of opposition, but nobody speaks very fondly of him.

Bungu never shared the ring with anybody that was anywhere near the calibre of Arguello or Cervantes.

Cervantes almost lost his title in the year prior to facing Pryor, and did nothing after that fight. He was ripe.

Arguello did nothing special at 140. He had something in the tank for the first fight, but Pryor cheated so I don't put much emphasis on it.

Bungu beat Mckinney twice, which imo is better than Pryor's series with Arguello (Mckinney was a prime, talented champion at his best weight). The Danny Romero win was also nice and he made 13 straight defenses after beating McKinney. I don't see him as being on a different tier than Pryor.

Of those fighters who typically rank top 10 all time in one of the original 8 weight divisions and top 100 all time P4P, Pascual Perez, Carlos Zarate and Bob Foster must have amongst the weakest win resumes.

I balance this with how utterly dominant they both were in their best weight divisions during their respective primes, when analysing their careers and ranking them.

    Disagree.

I don't like Hopkins but the man has a pretty impressive resume. Great wins over prime versions of Trinidad, Tarver, Pavlik and Wright when all 4 were in the p4p top 10 list. Good wins over prime Jean Pascal, Shumenov, undefeated Glen Johnson. Underrated wins in Oscar DLH(DLH wasn't a middleweight but this fight was fought at a 157 pound catchweight), Cloud and William Joppy. Then there's the loads of other ranked opponents he fought at 160.

I'd say Joe Calzaghe. This guy is the GOAT at Super Middleweight but his best wins are a close split decision against a 50 year old Hopkins, Mikkel Kessler who had a hand injury and borderline shot Chris Eubank.

Alot of people don't know this but watch Aaron Pryor's fight vs Gary Hinton a slick Southpaw a few levels below Crawford. He gave Pryor hell went 15 rounds and was actually ahead on points until last 5 rounds or so.

Now Pryor was a bit past his prime at this point, but I think stylistic issues were apparent in that fight.

Phillips was better than Pryor on his best night. Hatton got Tszyu on his worst night at the end of his career and wasn’t even confidently ahead after cheating all night. how about Pyrors loss to a nonevent fighter? Bobby Joe Young

Well that was at Welterweight when Pryor was a full on coke head coming back from lay off I surely hope you ain't using that as a barometer.

And Phillips better than Pryor ? Come on mate.

Come on mate what? Phillips win over Kostya would eclipse anything Pyror did. You’re using the Hatton fight, alls fair.

Personally i don't take much of anything from Pryor's fights post Arguello and I've been a long time critic. He was hammering the cocaine well before Furlano let alone Hinto and those layoffs allied to that........

The guy was never remotely the same and only offered brief glimpses of his pomp despite still being quite young. The poor guy was a mess.

It is one argument to say Pryor cheated because there are question marks over Panama Lewis. However, nothing on earth, taken orally, could have passed through his system quick enough to create energy from the end of the 13th and the start of the 14th round to the time of the knockout. Also the rematch completely removed any doubt.

If you count Tszyu as an ATG fighter he should be one of the first candidates for being an ATG with the weakest resume.

His best win is Zab Judah, his second best win is Sharmba Mitchell, who never came close to being top fighter himself.

Your resume isn't that good if your second best win is Sharmba Mitchell.
