It's not really fair to judge someone trying to answer questions in what is not their first language I remember the same thing with Kostya Tszyu. Especially when the interviewer asks long winded questions. I also think interviewing guys straight after a fight you are not going to get them in their usual state of mind. After a fight win or lose adrenaline and emotions are high and you are likely to say things you usually wouldn't say or if you had more time to process and think you would articulate things differently.

I liked him alot better trying to speak english than with his lousy interpreter. No offense to his interpreter. GGG was funny and optimistic before being blatantly robbed twice. Stole most of his joy. That being said, "good boy" and "Big drama"show will never be forgotten, and he should have stayed with Abel, who brought alot to the show. The thing is, i think Abel rubbed him the wrong way after kind of kissing Canelo's a** after the 2nd fight.

 

Kovalev showed why. Froch and JCC Jr where bigger money fights for GGG than a fight vs Ward could ever be, both were easier fights to win IMO, both had more potential to produce fireworks, etc. And Ward, well he just wasn't a big draw with casuals. Not willing to fight anywhere else in the world but his backyard or close to it, getting his way with the weight, his judges, the bigger purse, etc.

To his credit Kovalev wanted to prove he was the better man and gave in to all of Wards demand so the fight could get made. It backfired and he got robbed.

GGG also got robbed vs Canelo, but at least he made money out of it.

 

The irony in this is to promote GGG they were talking we’ll fight any one from 154 to 175 when in reality they meant Floyd, Canelo, Cotto, Froch or JCC Jr. When Andre Ward said I’ll take that Abel Sanchez comes out and says 164. And the irony in saying Froch and JCC Jr were bigger fights is that they were very vocal that Sergio was ducking them when he took big money fights such ass JCC Jr and Cotto, or Cotto when he took on Canelo. GGG proceeds to do similar things once he became the person with the target on his back.

So the reasons above are why there will never really be a boogeyman in boxing because when put in the same position of a fighter they were critical of, they make similar decisions. Keith Thurman swore he was being ducked but then he becomes unified and he starts ducking. David Benavidez swears he’s this monster but when Morrell says I want that fight all of a sudden it’s what does Morrell bring to the table literally months after they were talking about fighting him.

 

GGG's English is way better than everyone who interview him's Kazakh.

 

Who’d want to fight billy goat Ward in his hometown or in Vegas where the rules are bent against Eurasian fighters. It was a smart move by him.

 

Funny, the three fighters you mentioned that he couldn’t beat convincingly, all those fights happened at the very end of his career, when people were finally willing to get into the ring with him.

 

Is that a joke link? Ward made it VERY CLEAR once he moved up in weight he would not move back down and he never did. However, Ward wanted the fight at 168 prior to moving up and GGG famously said, "Ward too much for me" in addition to GGG calling out Froch and JCC Jr at 168 but required Ward at 164:
