Good question,Fergy. First of all,in order to get back to 1965 I'd probably hitch a lift in some silver car with an eccentric wild haired gentleman driving "Great Scott! Ali knocking out Liston in the first round??? That's going to upset the whole boxing space/time continuum!"

Ali was still the underdog for their second bout albeit not so much as for their first. A lot of money would be made on this.

 

I guess most thought the first outcome was an anomaly though Liston was a shorter priced favourite second time around - which might’ve been as much to do with people being more appreciative of Ali than anything else.

Hard to quantify exactly what the odds might’ve been for Ali KO 1 Liston - certainly very long and if you had put that bet on and won - I think people would’ve been suspicious that you might’ve had an “inside track” on it - particularly given the chaotic manner in which the fight was stopped - though I don’t think anyone would take their conspiracy theory to the point of you having time traveled from the future. Then again, who knows? Lol.

 

If I get a time machine, I don’t think I’m going back to visit Lewiston, Maine, just to make a few bucks.

I’d go back to 1990 and bet every penny on Douglas to ko Tyson in 10. Further back to 1978 and bet everything on Leon Spinks SD15. Willard to ko Johnson in 26th. Dempsey to stop Willard on corner retirement after 3rd. It’d stop being fun though.

The real question is whether in the fight Ali Vs. Liston Ali won in 1963, 1962, 1961, 1960, 1959...

 

Next time you go back, see if you can find any Harry Greb film laying about. Maybe there was some then that has since been lost for good.

 

Yeah I toss every cent I had on Ali ko 1 Liston lol.

 

Then I would have to go to a local High School to view Muhammad Ali vs Sonny Liston II on Closed Circuit Television.

 

Nothing at all wrong with building it on the cheap Ferg but your time machine is still good for the round trip to get back “home” I hope.
