There’s not too many undefeated world champions that change trainers ahead of fights on the back of a win. From his Uncle to Davison to Sugar Hill. Tens of millions of dollars on the line, an ATG legacy, that’s some serious foresight.
For sure he is intelligent. He is not stupid man and he is best in the world (seems). He is talented and intelligent (for boxer).
Any boxer who successfully utilizes ducking to protect their zero whilst coincidentally enjoying a positive reputation as a fighter has to have some degree of smarts... It doesn't fool those who understand the sport, but casuals pay the bills. Knowing what to avoid may be cowardly, but it's not necessarily stupid.
Fury is smart for sure. Way he is planning his career is almost masterpiece. Off course us as boxing fans got others priorities but when u think about his own good and welfare he doing it great. He choose fights and opponents to look great but minimalize risk to neccesary level. He for sure can manipulate fans and boxing community pretty well but it works best on not very aware ppl. Less u know back story easier Tyson can look as Superman for You. I dont know if leave Peter Fury was good move. I think best Fury win is still his victory over Wlad with uncle Peter on corner but he for sure know what he is doing.
Which is why he rematched Wlad, fought Joshua and jumped at the chance of fighting for undisputed against Usyk... Being willing to do things that are relatively safe/easy that would scare the **** out of you or I doesn't stop someone being a coward - just because Fury will fight the ghost of Chisora (who would absolutely kick my ass and yours at the same time) doesn't mean he's not a coward for ducking fights that would actually be difficult for him. The school bully doesn't pick on nerds and leave the kid with a black belt in karate alone because he's brave - he does it because he enjoys the reputation enough to be a little ****, but isn't brave enough to pick on the kids that he isn't sure he can dominate.
There’s nothing safe about fighting a 260 pound stripped UFC heavyweight champion who’s packing serious dynamite in his hands. Ngannou has a point to prove and will be more dangerous than Whyte and Chisora in the early rounds guaranteed.
Oh cmon - he's a beast of a man but has next to no boxing training or experience... If Fury loses that, he deserves all the ridicule he'd be bound to get. He won't, though, this is a mismatch. No way he'd risk how humiliating that would be if he thought there was any chance of getting sparked. This is the definition of "punchers chance" and then some.
No boxing experience is Ngannou’s advantage. It’s hard to train for something that’s unusual. It’s not like he’s a chump, he’s a stripped UFC heavyweight champion who’s known for his power.
