Not really Wladmir was as old as a brontosaurus and more gunshy than a scared old lady holding a pistol for the first time. Fury's win over Wladmir was good historically, but in terms of Wladmir's boxing ability on that night, he was horrible. There are dozens of boxers who could've beaten that version of Wladmir.

 

Mayweather set the blueprint. Ali set the hype. Now EVERYONE stepping into the ring is a sweet-talking-businessman.
It'd be laughable if it wasn't so tragic that 'settling things in the ring' is just something that happens in the peripheral of boxing after the circus nowadays. Boxing sucks by allowing it to be mainstream while legit boxing often struggles.

Maybe in your imagination, in reality no one in the division other than Fury could have gone to Germany and beaten Wlad most of the time, let alone set an all-time defensive record against him. Joshua and Wilder certainly weren't going to Germany and judging from Joshua's performance 17 months later in Britain, it wouldn't have gone well for him.

The same year that Fury schooled Wlad, Wilder's team were saying of their new titlist "Wilder's just a baby, he needs more time". Wilder was saying "maybe sometime next year". They weren't confident.

Zhang just had his two best performances at the same age as P4P No.2 Wlad, who was 12 months removed from a career best performance himself. It's a phenomenal win, the only rough equivalent for Bowe would have been beating Lewis. Putting it in the Whyte/Chisora category is pure salt.

Like Wilder in the 2nd fight or Chisora or Whyte, Wlad looked bad because Fury made him look bad. He couldn't hit Fury because Fury was too big, fast, agile, fit, skilled etc., as Wlad admitted after the fight. He wasn't facing a 5 foot something Chambers with slower feet and little power, and even then Wlad was "gunshy" back in 2010, Steward screaming at him every mid-late round. I don't know whether you've seen many of Wlad's fights but he was extremely conservative post-Brewster/Williamson, which is partly why he was so hard to beat.

But you don't like Fury so you'll make excuses, just as you made excuses about Wilder "not looking right" or whatever. When it suits you you'll say "Povetkin being 40+ against Whyte didn't hinder him because he's full of Russian PED's".

Wladmir was a gunshy old man and Fury fought more cautiously than a 14 year old boy sneaking into the kitchen to eat leftovers. Nothing you write will change any of that. I already said that Fury gets credit for dethroning a long reigning champ, but that version of Wladmir was garbage and Fury's resume is extremely thin aside from the Wilder trilogy and Chisora fights. Until he fights Usyk then I stand by what I said: he's arguably not even better than Riddick Bowe.
