Crawford has said before that he'd happily do the rematch at 154 and he wants to go to two weights above that to face Canelo, so if he insists on 147 now it will seem as a bit of a duck. If he feels confident that he's the better man, as you normally would after such a dominating victory, he'd have no problem with 154 for the rematch. In fact, he should welcome it to make sure that no excuses can be made on Spence's behalf.

If he won't accept 154 it looks like he actually believes that a lot of his win was down to Spence being drained.

Not only that Bud is 35 years old going on 36. He's got 1 maybe 2 fights left. Battering Spence again does little for Bud

The same reason Spence would not give brook a rematch @154 but was happy to talk about moving up weight to fight canelo.

Of course Crawford knows Spence is tight at 147 just like Spence knew Brook was. Fighters will take every advantage they can if they have the power to do so.

Crawford is doing nothing wrong here. He won the fight and he gets the chance to dictate the weight of the rematch. There is no reason for him to fight Spence @154 apart from making the Spence hardcore stans happy.

Spence should not start bitching out this move by Crawford as he will not get anyone in boxing supporting him. Instead he should decline the rematch and go down another route @154

He sonned a corpse. Good for him.

The penalty for mishandling a corpse can vary depending on the specific circumstances of the case and the laws of the jurisdiction where the offense took place. In some cases, mishandling a corpse may be considered a crime, and the offender may be subject to criminal penalties such as imprisonment and fines.

Is there actual traction to this, @MismatchHypejob ? Bud did seem a little sorry for beating on Spence's corpse and seemed amenable to fighting Spence at 154.

I love the guys calling Crawdad a weight bully. Poor Spence, the guy who made a good living as a weight bully at 147 and signed a contract where the winner gets to choose the weight class of the rematch. Boo hoo!

It’s a catch 22 for Crawford because if they fight at 154, there are no belts involved. Both guys can make 147 and Crawford is older but Spence, a top 2 guy at 147, has trouble making the weight. Spence fans want Crawford to make the fight at 154, where the fight is tougher and give up his belts to make the fight? I’m sure he will do it but it’s going to cost Spence some $$$ for the privilege. This is a negotiation and if Spence wants the fight he’s going to have to pay for it.

Crawford schools Spence at either weight but if Spence doesn’t make concessions, there is no incentive for Crawdad to make the fight. He already showed he’s levels above Spence in the ring. After he gives Spence another beating, the Spence fans will just fall back on the car accident excuse.

Spence was "big fish" at 147 where he fought his entire career. Then Bud came along and suddenly Spence is drained, damaged goods, and the win didnt mean nothin

    Shut your mouth boy

Maybe if Spence handles the weight cut differently or better, he could improve on his previous performance. Crawford still wins tho

Detached retina is a career ending injury. Cry more. Ignoring that he got all teeth his blown out of his jaw in a car crash. Ignoring he was weight drained at 147 where as you rightly said, he had been at his whole career from 20 years old to 34 years old.

I think Bub is trying to tell Spence in a respectful way that he is a waste of his time at this point and he'd rather move on. It's not Bud's fault that the fight wasn't competitive enough to warrant any buzz for the rematch.

If Spence wants it at 154, he's going to have to take a significant purse cut.

All this confirms is that he’d rather jump 3 weights and make history.

So to clarify for those with lesser intellectual capacities:

This was if Crawford will insist on 147. I personally think he's fully confident that he will beat Spence at 154 as well and that the fight will be made at that weight.

This is probably just a negotiation tactic. But if Crawford goes back on his word and refuses 154, it will not be a good look.
