I saw the games Shohei Ohtani played today. Unreal how great he is! 2 homeruns and a compete game pitching. OMG!
Just an observation from a glance, because I have a steel trap memory. All but one of those guys are either an Aries or Capricorn. Aries Naoya Inoue Kazuto Ioka Yudai Shigeoka Capricorn Junto Nakatani Kenshiro Teraji Takuma Inoue The only outlier is Ginjiro Shigeoka, who's a Libra. But even he has a Capricorn Moon and Mars, which means his dominant is Capricorn. Also you can add in Reiya Abe, who recently picked up a strap from Kiko Martinez. Abe is also.... an Aries.
Bump. Nakatani and Teraji continuing to impress. We have Ioka and Inoue to look forward before the end of the year.
Unfortunately boxing is and always will be a fringe sport and the bigger athletes will be in football (soccer), baseball, judo, sumo and the other more established sports. Rugby is becoming more popular as well, particularly when the RWC rolls about.
Great to see Japanese boxing is the standards in Asia boxing at the moment in lower weight class.Although i blasted Inoue level of opps, he’s definitely the best boxer in the region, no questions about it.
Amazon is even getting in on the act in Japan. They broadcast Inoue v Donaire 2. And look to be broadcasting Tenshin Nasukawa's transition into pro boxing (young K1 champion who had the exhibition with Mayweather in 2018). They picked up his first pro fight, and his second was broadcast on Amazon Prime Video last night. Though like mentioned by RJJ above, even though the bigger boxing star Teraji was the official headliner, they are marketing it based on Tenshin
Sad really. And the athletes that really get the Japanese media hyped are the ice-skaters. So what hope do boxers have
The next logical sport for them is motorsports, where it pays to be smaller. They've had a few in F1, although nothing too special yet. But the Japanese are tenacious and persistent, and are always out to prove that they can compete at anything they put their minds to.
