There's some validity in what you're stating but when it comes to ranking fighters who you beat has to be taken and consideration. There's a reason why Hearns Hagler Leonard Armstrong are all ranked higher than Floyd and Manny they just simply defeated better fighters
You have to have other great fighters on your resume to be considered an all time great in my opinion. As accomplished as Crawford is, he does not meet that criteria. He is great and hall of fame worthy but that's it.
I don't think he can ever get there. This era doesn't mix it up enough. HoFer? Without a doubt. Could-have-been? Absolutely. Not entirely his fault? Some truth there. You wanna place blame? Place it on he had to come up in the era of hyperconnectivity. You can find posts of mine on here where I say he is the second coming of Marvelous, but he was overcome by the effects of social pressure exponentially magnified by the internet.
I don't think that's always the case you could argue Larry Holmes never truly beat a great fighter, I don't count the ghost of Ali in 1980. Yet Holmes is considered a top 5 ATG Heavyweight without ever truly beating a great fighter. I think in some cases longevity, dominance, achievements, can make you an ATG. In Crawford's case for me he still needs 1 or 2 big wins.
Yes. For one thing, he's been more consistent in his performances than several who are considered ATGs. Crawford has never had an off performance, which shows he's taken good care of his physical health. As far as resume goes, he's fought everyone available. Arum held him back for several years, but when he finally had a chance, he dominated the highly-regarded Spence. He's not finished yet, a title fight at 154 would cement his already-strong legacy.
Yes he is. However, if it's true he is attempting to drain Spence again for the rematch, yet is willing to fight guys at 168 his career will have an asterisk* because that's some punk ass behavior.
This is the best answer. But I guess a lot of people use “ATG” a lot more loosely than I do, which is cool.
Crawford fans are sensible and reasonable.I don’t think any has proclaimed him to be such ( ATG). As of now he is number 1 pnd for pnd clearly. Crazed Nonoya fan boy might not like that idea. Not Nonoya or Usyk.Bud is number1.For that atg.Crawford has to go above and beyond to be an atg.Beat Canelo ,boots or tszyu those 3.
I think Bud classifies as 'damned good fighter'. He does have the potential to classify as 'helluva fighter'.
I can understand you feeling that way, but I never said anything about Holmes being an all time great. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. All time great for me is an exclusive club and it's not that crowded. ATGS, names are spoken down through the decades. Nobody talks about Larry Holmes like that. ATGs names and accomplishments are passed down from generation to generation. They have passed the test of time.
