Going by the OPs criterion of being bigger than boxing and not about who the best heavyweights are, it's a pretty limited group. Sullivan, Dempsey, Louis, Ali, Tyson and Fury are about it as far as those who really transcended the sport. I'd eliminate Sullivan and Fury and go with Dempsey, Louis, Ali and Tyson
