I do wonder if there's a very short term plan with Benn here from Hearn. Rush through Saturday's fight, then fight Eubank/Brook in December for mega money in the middle east, get back what money he is owed and all the while hold off the boards appeal. Once that's done and he's no longer in a financial hole proceedings can play out and regardless of the outcome he's not out of pocket. There's a serious desperation for a December fight against anyone with a name - Eubank/Brook/Taylor and maybe that's because that's just about as long as they can stop the sh1t hitting the fan?
Yep. I think the same too. Con Bent is a liability to Matchroom at the moment. He's not an asset. He carries reputational and financial risk. I think Eddie wants his million pounds from the failed promotion back, plus whatever advances he gave him in that year as there's just no other reason he would stick his neck out for him, so much.
He isn't fighting Eubank any time soon. Robert Smith was clearly fuming in that talksport interview. It will be seriously frowned upon what they've done going ahead with a fight in the US. Benn might get out this weekend in the US, but his options in the UK remain very limited.
I see Hearn is going for the "clear to box" nonsense again today, when Robert Smith clearly said "hasn't cleared his name". Playing with words.
The management of this scandal has been a disaster and inflicted serious reputational damage to the Matchroom Brand.
I did notice in a few interviews from the last couple of days Hearn mentioned that Benn has financial reasons for needing to fight without delay. Obviously he hasn't fought for 18 months which is what he covered it with but there's a real desperation to get him out and get him out ASAP. I think this gets even more messy down the line.
He had 500k in his company account last year. I imagine he has burned through that with legal bills of at least 200k.
Doesn't matter. Legally they can't just ignore the NADP ruling. If the appeal fails the bboc will just have to accept it or find themselves in court.
Correct. Traces of steroids can be found in follicles. He’s gone from dreadlocks and a fake beard to no hair no beard. Whyte was made to keep his hair when they were testing him for the Rivas fight.
Hearn spinning the facts and being efficient with the truth, as always. Tells the interviewer 'if you want the facts, read the newspaper.' If Benn is all cleared and not guilty like you claim Eddie, why has Benn litterally been snuck out to the US and not fighting in the UK? Why after this fight do you plan on 'contacting Robert Smith and asking if you can progress with Benn-Eubank' ? Truth is, Eddie, Benn is not currently allowed to fight in the UK. Just a pity the interviewer didn't press that point.
