A great fight, and Wilder would certainly agree for good money, Somehow I can't imagine that Wilder can win, Wilder might knock him down, but I doubt that Zhang wouldn't be able to get up and beat Wilder...

 

This. Without some serious money behind him Zhang simply isn’t worth the risk for any top fighter. Given his age he needs to make things happen very soon.

I would hate to see Zhang going down the same road as Whyte.

In hindsight now maybe things look different. But Whyte had done more then enough to do deserve a title shot for a long time prior to the Povetkin loss.

 

Big fight in China could generate some big money.

 

That gets bandied about a lot still haven't seen proof. The average chinese is still semi-poor, China as a whole has a lot of money due to the sheer amount of people there but the average citizen has a GDP per capita around that of Mexico's.

There there is the question if the authoritarian government would want a big cut of the profits? There has to be reasons why big western events are rarely ever held in China.

 

Zhang will shatter Wilder's suspect mandible into a million pieces. If tomato cans like Dustin Nichols and Harold Sconiers can put this shaky-chinned FRAUD on the canvas and Featherfisted Fury can keep him there, you can COUNT on Zhang putting that clown to SLEEP!!!

Well, Wilder is a big puncher, but he telegraphs the one punch in his arsenal so hard that Zhang would be able to cover up against most of them. I'd have Zhang by KO in the 3-5 round range. That might sound a bit early, but consider some things. Wilder was put down in the third round on two separate occasions by Fury, who isn't at all regarded as a big puncher. Zhang knocked out Joyce in the third round of the rematch, and Joe was widely regarded as having a great chin and at the very least has a pretty decent one. If a feather fisted guy can get him down in 3 on two separate occasions, then a guy who cracked a hard chin can probably get him out of there around the same time.

Would be a fun fight, but I doubt we'll see it. Wilder's in the cash out phase of his career, so the biggest fight I expect him to do is against AJ, and I'm not even sure that happens. Zhang-Wilder is very likely to be one of many unanswered questions from this generation of heavyweights, sadly.

 

That and PPV figures?

Zhang had 3 fights with top 10 HW in 13 months. That's why I think he's the "most frequent" heavyweight. Considering that he lost the first fight (so decided by the judges) and won the next two, Zhang IMO deserves a chance to fight for the title. With that, of course, he deserves a fight with Wilder.

 

I would love to see zhang vs wilder ! Hell of a fight .

 

Wilder's speed of hand might be a big factor here on who lands first which is a important factor imo.

 

He couldn't hit him in the second fight though, h ?
Fury was in terrible shape in the third fight, and Wilder still couldn't finish a badly hurt Fury, cause he is that bad.
And Fury evasiveness is badly overhyped.

Also it's one thing to hit someone and another thing to hit someone flush.

And that same Wilder, but in his prime, somehow couldn't hit the all mighty glass jaw bum - Szpilka for whole 8 rounds. Same guy Chisora KO in 2.
Styles make fights.

The whole narrative that all it's needs for Wilder is to hit 1 punch is beyond ridiculous. Plenty of glass jaw bum survived plenty of rounds with him.
On top of that you can counter that all Zhang need is 1 punch and Wilder chicken legs will fall and never get up.

 

There are so many threads here that proved to be completely wrong that most of the topics currently analyzed are just some kind of internet background noise .
