He did say that and what actually happened was that he signed to fight Bika (which was a terrible choice as he is durable and was still relatively active), had a sparring session against a journeyman where he got dropped hard by a jab so then sensibly pulled out of the Bika fight.
see this is why you are great mate you have plenty info I didnt know that was wondering why he pulled out it seemed secret wasnt on the forum at that point just had the videos up on tablet and the papers were all reporting it his son didnt want him back in the ring got dropped hard by a jab ffs no fool like an old fool eh its a compulsion an addiction is boxing to these legends
Both things can be true, and he can "win" as you put it. His previous interviews were wooden whilst trying to talk up his fights. Now he's developing arrogance he hasn't earned. For what it's worth Joe Markowski of DAZN gets the balance right - for someone that doesn't appear on the socials too often, he comes across as a competent savvy businessman and is usually worth a listen. Hearn is at his most listenable when someone decent like Andi Purewal or Rob Tebbutt is asking straight questions - you can see Hearn appreciates the odd adult conversation. If Frank is in charge of Matchroom boxing I'd love to hear more from him on how fights are made, how some of the politics are navigated, etc, without resorting to slagging or bravado. I'm absolutely sure he doesn't care what any of us think though
I remember that too Jim with that cretin son of his saying he didn’t want to see him fight blahblahblah, when the real reason was that his 55 year old father been ironed out by a part time boxer in a light sparring session a few hours earlier.
This content is protected Great to see the confidence of Frank Smith now and him coming out of his shell more. I feel like Matchroom have put Boxxer under considerable pressure.
Frank Smith is becoming more and more annoying by the week. I might even start referring to him as Mr Emily Eubank,
No idea what Frank Smith does or doesn't do, he could be exceptional at his job. What I do know is I'd rather go for a beer with Ted Bundy
The more videos I see like this, the more I think starting this thread was correct. He's one of the most awful people in a sport that has Sam Jones and Spencer Fearon in it. I thought Matchroom didn't care about other promotions? Tesco vs the corner shop etc? It's true too so why behave like this? The thing about Hearn is, as arrogant as he came across, you knew it was sales bluster. Frank actually seems like he means it.
Let's give him show credit here, he said September 30th , stacked card and kept a straight face! Fair play, that's some serious concentration and discipline
Don't get the hate for Frank Smith at all. He has done great work expanding Matchroom globally in other territories. He was at the forefront of Matchroom doing the deal in Japan. He also has attended several meetings in Abu Dhabi looking to stage major events annually there as well as improving amateur boxing there. Don't know why people call him a "teaboy" when he probably does more work than Hearn outside of promoting.
The recent interview he’s done on about builders wanting to know the details of the Conor Benn case is a car crash and Eddie should tell him to wrap the interviews because he is doing nobody any favours.
