Am I the only one who thought Ruiz looked like crap against Ortiz ?

He dropped him 3 times but from a technical perspective Ortiz was outboxing him the majority of the fight.

Ortiz is also a living fodder with 1% battery life on those legs and as we saw against Mr God Martin even a jab can fold the guy, so were the knockdowns even impressive ? He couldn't even knock the historical artifact out

Ruiz is overrated. I don't mean it as some insult I mean it very literally. He should not be rated highly at all. At this point I don't consider him a top 10. You have to wonder who's pushing the narrative to make him seem better than he really is........... hmmmm

he did .... ancient ortiz actually won more rounds than RUiz LOL

ortiz had ZERO punch resistance at this stage of his career and RUIZ still couldnt knock him out

it goes to show how pathetic anthony joshaus chin is to get knocked out by a guy like RUIZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ortiz won most the rounds he didn't get knocked down

Hell no man, he did look bad. The dude knocked Ortiz down three times and still just squeaked by with a decision, and it could've easily gone the other way still.

Still, glad he won because even though it resulted in no eliminator fight between Wilder and Ruiz, at least it spared us Wilder-Ortiz III. You know Wilder would have been chomping at the bit to get a fight made if the opposition was a guy he already beat twice. And that was when Ortiz actually had a chin

I thought it was consensus that he looked absolutely horrible vs. Ortiz and was only saved by Ortiz's broken chin/durability. Hell he didn't even look good against Arreola

Not a risky take at all....I wasn't impressed with Andy in the Areola fight either. Although in that one he did (and should have) won convincingly.

Ruiz has always been a very dangerous guy if you brawl with him, since he’s very good at punching with his opponent, and can beat anybody stupid enough to stand and trade with him, but if you use effective mobility and make him move around the ring he’s very beatable.

When Ortiz was dumb enough to stand and fight with Ruiz he couldn’t stay off the canvas, but when he started using what was left of his legs Ortiz started racking up the points, but he started a little too late.

    Scorecards were very close.

Ruiz is and was Parker/Whyte level, which isn't really saying much. He looked mediocre against Arreola and Ortiz, and he would probably lose 12-0 against Joshua if they ever met again. Caught lightning in the bottle once like McCall and Rahman did against Lewis. That might be his legacy unless gets in the ring with top names.

Ruiz has had lethargic performances for his entire career. The Liakhovich fight could have easily been scored a draw. He's obviously a talented but lazy fighter.

Yes, it was a prime example of a fighter doing bare minimum. I mean, he threw in single digits in at least one round, probably more. He let Ortiz win rounds by simply doing something. Would be interesting to know if a fighter has thrown less over 12 rds. Must be very rare at least.

Ruiz is this generations biggest waste of talent, probably ranks up there with anyone ever among those that at least reached this level.

Agreed... and looking awful against the corpse of a never-has-been?

Might as well hang them up now - Ortiz was never anything special, massively overhyped with an awful resume... struggling with the washed up corpse of that is hugely embarrassing - Ruiz has a decent resume, but he's always been inconsistent, and a somewhat fortunate win against Joshua has set expectations higher than they probably should've been.

He looked good in spurts but overall he definitely looked bad. Old man was putting it on him in the last round as well

Broner was throwing single digits against Pacquiao. Same with Clottey I think.
