Ali only carried excess weight from the mid 70’s until his retirement in the early 80’s. Up until then, he had a great physique. The difference is, you look at a physique from an aesthetic perspective and not a functional one. Ali never needed to be bulked up like someone like AJ.
There’s nothing wrong with picking Zhang over a washed Ali, but I still don’t think that he’d have brutally knocked him out.
It doesn’t matter if you think that Usyk is better technically. The point is: Both guys beat bigger guys with their skills and their speed, and NOT due to their size and their power. Chris Byrd also did the same. Now if you look at Ali’s great attributes, it is absolutely nonsensical to claim that Ali wouldn’t have been capable of doing the things that Usyk and Byrd have done.
Good grief...some of the obvious newbies are waaaay too full of themselves to admit any type of shortcomings of their knowledge. And I get it, when I was younger, I thought I knew it all. THANKFULLY that is something one can outgrow with a little bit of humility and experience.
If your theory held up logically, there wouldn’t be any ifs or buts. No anomalies. If your theory held up, a 45 year old fighter from his 70’s peak, wouldn’t have beaten able to have beaten ANY world class HW from the 90’s, no matter what. The same happened to Larry Holmes. Larry Holmes beat a very good HW in Ray Mercer, when he was in his early 40’s, in the 90’s. That’s 2 HW’s from the 70’s, that beat 90’s HW’s whilst being in their 40’s. It’s time to fold up your tent. Your ridiculous theory has been blown to pieces. I’ll now ask you the questions that I always ask you, what you can NEVER answer: If all modern fighters are superior, then why do we have whole divisions today that are inferior to what they were decades ago?? Why are today’s MW’s, nowhere near as great as the ones from the early 90’s?? Regarding Moorer and Foreman’s size, they were similar in terms of height and reach, but Foreman was heavier. No, Moorer would not have been a CW today. Why would you claim that? He weighed anything from 220-250 pounds in the majority of his HW fights. It’s just another stupid statement from you.
Look at what you’ve been reduced to. Arguing about the percentage of body fat, in order to try and save face, after you’ve been exposed. SMH. They were the same height. The had the same reach. Almost the same weight. In his prime, Ali had a low percentage of body fat, where he was in great shape. So they were practically the same size. Your argument is WEAK. Both Usyk and Byrd beat guys on skills and speed, and not on size and power. Ali also did the same. So you cannot claim that Ali couldn’t have competed with modern HW’s, based upon size, when we have PROOF that TWO other fighters have done it. Also, most of today’s top 10-15 guys, aren’t even great fighters. It’s just one silly post after another, where you have been brutally exposed.
I can only think that you’re trolling us all for your own amusement. Because how can anybody be this silly?? How is Rocky a MW by today’s standards?? Haye is noticeably faster than Ali, and you can literally see that?? WTF? I hope that you don’t drive. Until Ali slowed down in the 70’s, Haye was not faster than Ali. And when he was in his prime, there was simply no comparison whatsoever. Haye did not possess Ali’s hand speed, foot speed or reflexes. What planet are you on? You’re completely delusional.
You have someone in this thread going around calling Ali a "total fatso" lmao This content is protected
The speed difference of young prime Ali is too much This content is protected However, the older Ali who hung out and did the rope-a-dope thing would be battling in the trenches but I still don't think Zhang would win.
Zhang would of killed him its no fair its a totally different thing its no right to put ali in with big fella like Zhang he would be in serious danger of being killed
I’d like to think that you’re trolling. Although you’re probably serious. Ali wouldn’t stand a chance? How’s that Ukrainian fellow getting on these days? The one who’s the exact same size as what Ali was? The last I heard, he’d got 3 of the 4 main belts.
Hey, remember when Lance Whitaker, Michael Grant, Audley Harrison, Robert Helenius, Anthony Joshua, Vitali and Wlad, Nicolay valuev, Julius Long, Henry Akinwande, Tye Fields, David Price, Timo Hoffman ALL never lost to a guy smaller??
Clown city. Have you read the whole thread? “Ali was too small to have competed with today’s guys” “Okay. What about Usyk? He was the exact same size?” “No, you can’t cherry pick him. He doesn’t count”
