Zhang would actually be the biggest and hardest hitting guy who Foreman fought, and the first southpaw if it’s pre-Moorer.
Foreman from the Holyfield fight would be a great match. 94 Foreman probably takes a horrific beating.
There's no way '94 Foreman would take this fight. A bigger guy than him, who hits like him, who appears to have much quicker hands than him, AND who is a southpaw? Nope.
'94 Foreman is leagues better than Joyce. As slow as he is, he's quicker than Joyce. Big George also has better stamina than Zhang. As hard as he hits, Zhang is not pushing George back. And he'd have to contend with the Foreman jab. In addition, Zhang is no spring chicken either. Could go either way.
Slow hittable guys are in deep trouble against Zhang. While Zhang has a few glaring holes in his game it's very clear by now that you do not want to be a target for his battleship broadsides. If Foreman can't test that chin early - and he might - I don't fancy his chances against Zhang's bombs.
Zhang is old, but he doesn't have a ton of miles on him. 28 pro fights. Interesting situation actually. Aging, but not ringworn.
Foreman took a terrific beating from Alex Stewart. Imagine what Big Bang would do ? Big Bang by tko mid rds .
Stewart's gloves were in all likelihood loaded though. Looked like Margarito vs Cotto and Collins vs Resto damage inflicted by loaded gloves. Morrison and Briggs hit harder and more often on Foreman than Stewart and never caused anything approaching the horrific facial damage he sustained in that fight.
I can’t describe Zhang as a “ great fighter .” But he’s in a category of his own. Kind of a unicorn if you will. Big, durable, hard hitting and not terribly skilled but seemingly skilled enough. And needless to say peaked at a very unusual age even by todays standards. George Foreman was still an incredible force in 1994. Like it or not, Michael Moorer was the heavyweight champion then and Foreman beat him. But George was becoming increasingly more hittable as his comeback progressed. Alex Stewart, Tommy Morrison and Michael Moorer all left him with a swollen face. I’d hate to pick a fighter like Zhelai Zhang to beat the great George Foreman. But at the suggested point in time given, Zhang might have proven to be more than a handful.
