The Flip side is the most talented athletes do not look at boxing if they don't believe there is money in the sport.

Its a shame really I always favored Showtime over HBO Mainly due to the fact Jimmy Lennon Jr left Mr "Lets get ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!! with a fake tan way behind in my book. I'll never forget that night in Ft Worth Tx when Buffer announced " Welcome to Fort Worth Texas & a Night of World Class Professional
WRESTLING !!!! Plus later on introduced Paulie Ayala as The NABF HEAVYWEIGHT champion LOL
But when you saw the little blonde cutie he was sat with you could maybe see his mind wasn't on the boxing LOL Great Memories

Jimmy Lennon Jr has been the best thus far & is a very classy individual as well he puts his own unique spin to announcing the fighters name especially when he stretches out their moniker,

Although i noticed today that his announcing of Charlo/Canelo at the presser yesterday wasn't too good perhaps he will get it back running by the weekend.

 

I was in the dressing room with the fighter when Jimmy came in . He went to every one checking how to pronounce their names properly & that their records were correct. He also went round everyone in there to shake hands. One fighter had a long name hard to pronounce & Jimmy cracked us up when he said " I'll bet the commentators will wish your name was John Smith" Everyone even the fighter laughed

 

not a surprise, no one really picked up the star mantle when Floyd retired

they tried to make Canelo a crossover star, he's not

They tried boxing on network TV, it failed

I'm curious to see what they do to PBC and all the fighters on SHO

Nice, Jimmy's great & always seems genuinely good & a kind man, he has done very well following after his father.

 

Funny enough, I think the productions were better when they had fewer voices.

 

Whole thing is weird. In the streaming age networks are jumping at getting live sports deals, NFL, NBA have received massive new TV deals in the last few years. Sports is one of the few things people need to watch live these days and not stream whenever.

Not sure why Boxing is missing out on this?

 

Sometimes it can kind of drive you crazy. When that happens i have to turn it to mute.
