Yup 100%. It is also down to how many sports have evolved that people assume boxing will as well. Yet years back boxers fought more often and for longer rounds. There is also no real specific scientific way of testing punching power. Too many variables in boxing.

Shame not everyone realises this is the case.

You can tell the age of people based on these posts. Most probably never saw Ali fight as it happened, all based on Youtube clips. I'll just say this- Ali took a large number of clean shots from Earnie friggin' Shavers, the hardest puncher of them all. Ali had about the best ring IQ of all time, so he knew how to use someone's strengths against them, just watch his fight against Foreman. He'd rope-a-dope the hell out of Zhang, and since Zhang has no stamina he'd tire in a few rounds, and Ali would then pick him apart.

But what difference does it make Jim?

AJ has a good punch. And Usyk has just beaten him twice.

So then why couldn’t Ali have had success today?

Do you think that Zhang would destroy Usyk?

Ali would win easily even before Zhang was 40 and about to time out.

    Shavers wasn’t 5’11.

We don’t know who hit harder.

But if you’re going to make a case for Zhang, then show us who he’s knocked out etc.

    Why is it nostalgic?

Does Zhang hit harder than Foreman?

If you think he does, then try and prove it.

    Can he?

Ali proved time and again that he could take a punch.

The main issue, is if Zhang would have been able to able to have landed any of his flush power punches.

    AJ has power.

Yet he couldn’t land any huge power shots on Usyk in 2 fights, simply because Usyk was too elusive.

Wilder can’t always knock his opponents out.

IF Zhang could hit Usyk, he could possibly hurt him and stop him. But that would be a big IF.

Now why are you assuming that Zhang would definitely have battered Ali?

Zhang has very slow feet and stamina issues. And Ali in his prime was extremely elusive. So there would have been no certainty about anything. I’d say that there would have been more chance of Ali winning a decision.

Muscle mass doesn't equal = better does it ? alot of the Heavyweights now are flabby Fury, Zhang, Ruiz, etc.

So Holyfield beating the likes of Foreman, Bowe, are not good examples of Holyfield beating bigger quality opponents what ?

Bowe is better than Joshua, and Foreman is better than any other win Usyk has had at Heavyweight outside of Joshua.

I never said i'm big i said i'm in shape workout regularly and i'm on the verge of being a personal trainer after i finish my course. You claimed "i'm a keyboard warrior that never works out" when actually i'm not a keyboard warrior i'm not claiming i am tough and i don't talk trash on the internet. I'm just debating with a simpleton that can't comprehend simple logic, and all your ridiculous points have been refuted and you've been made to look foolish.

As for slaying me in a boxing match ? oh so i guess you're the keyboard warrior now right ? do you not realize you contradict yourself all the time my guy ?

Finally as for Holyfield no he was not bigger than Foreman in his youth you simpleton, Foreman is a unit and much bigger than Holyfield naturally. Holyfield fought as a Light Heavyweight in the Olympics Foreman fought as a Heavyweight in the Olympics. Holyfield needed PED's to become a significant size for a Heavyweight Foreman was naturally a unit at Heavyweight.

    It’s not.

    We can debate.

I can literally prove to you that I’m not nostalgic.

You’ve made some points, and they’ve been answered by myself and others. So we welcome you to come and answer them.

Ever since my reply to him hes been quiet no surprise, is it possibly because the size argument was proved to be nonsense ? As was all his other claims about Heavyweights being so much better in this era with better speed and stamina laughable.

But its whatever you just get called "nostalgic" even though I'm in my early 20s which makes no logical sense.

Again what's funny is that in actual fact we've been most the rational and unbiased in this thread, we haven't claimed Ali would dominate in the modern era nor have we called him unbeatable. But to suggest he wouldn't be competitive at all is the actual biased comment when people like Dillian Whyte were rated in top 5 at some point.
