Don't think "prime" has got anything to do with it. Gassiev lost because he couldn't handle a basic jab, he also barely threw any of his own.

I believe his jab count was in single digits. He just followed Wallin around, Otto was never troubled.

Don't start saying now that this win means nothing, cause you best believe y'all would be shitting on Fury if Gassiev won this lol

He punches hard but not as hard as people thought. Definitely not one of the hardest punchers in the division. And Wallin never knocks people out lol he's not a destroyer. Good technician though

This being a smaller, but more powerful punching fighter vs. the bigger, better boxer reminded me of...
Marciano vs. a "big" 200+ lb. HW in the 1950s. Except this time "Marciano" lost.

I agreed with the posters that think Gassiev time to be a factor at HW is over - if it ever existed. If he doesn't drop back to CW what are his options? Is the BridgerW div. still around for any of the orgs? He might have success there. Too small for today's big HWs.

Right. Wallin is a relatively light puncher who throws basic one-two combinations, 99 percent of them to the head. He moves his feet just a little to avoid punches.

It was pretty basic stuff, yet Gassiev had practically no answer for it. Zip.

If Wallin hit as hard as even a normal heavyweight (like in the neighborhood of 75 percent instead of around 50 percent), Gassiev would've been out of there. Wallin even appeared to hurt Gassiev at one point and was chasing Murat around the ring in one of those middle rounds.

Could you imagine if that was Zhang pounding Gassiev? Or Hrgovic? JEEZ. That would've been a beat down.

Good win for Wallin. But Otto didn't exaclty wow anyone either. Just a workmanlike basic effort.

Neither seems to be going anywhere. But at least the right guy won (and should've won by a lot more).

    AVOID TURKEY.

what a total crock of shite. This is an inactive/injury ridden Gassiev fighting his first highly ranked opposition at HW. Judging him based off this fight is pretty dumb to be frank

All the same, a sizable majority here were picking Murat to win against Wallin.
