Rather than thinking this fight shows Crawford to be too small, I think it shows that Canelo can onlyy go so hard over the distance and that I want to see how Crawford looks kicking the **** out of Charlo before I decide whether he'll be strong enough moving up.
Without so many exciting fighters for Canelo to fight and Crawford already cleaning out 147 there aren’t too many exciting fights around. Both guys are not far from their primes, but it’s all downhill from here. I would watch it just to see what happens. I don’t think either guy losses anything legacy wise either. It’s a minimum a big payday for both guys and novel what if entertainment for the fans.
Ok. Perfectly happy to see either fight. At this point I give Tzoo a better chance than either Charlo. Still favor the whiny Bud Crawford though.
As with Jermello whose best opponent in 37 fights prior to tonight was probably Castano or a well past prime Trout, Crawford's best opponent in 40 fights is Spence, followed by Postol or Porter and none of them are truly elite or genuine A level fighters. Say what you will about that ginger ******* but he is elite level and he has shared a ring with elite level fighters like GGG, Floyd, Bivol and Kovalev albeit the later was way past his best. And then you have a whole bunch of lesser guys Clenelo has fought who are at least as good as Crawford's best wins if not some even better than them.
I think stylistically Bud is problematic for Canelo, he moves well and is an excellent counter puncher, much like we saw vs Trout, Lara, Bivol, good boxers that don't allow him to be the counter puncher, can make Canelo look bad. I think Bud goes the distance and either wins a decision or gets robbed on the cards.
This is the problem for Bud, and it is even more of a problem for Bud than it was for Jermell, who has a harder punch. Neither Jermell nor Bud have enough pop to keep Canelo off them. Canelo can walk through anything Bud throws. The reverse is not true.
I just don't want to see Crawford waste any more time. You can easily see him playing out the string fighting guys like Lubin, Rosario, Gaucha, and that whole 154 crew that's been kicking around for a while. It's a stretch, but if anyone owes the boxing public a stretch it's Crawford. It took him until he was retirement age to fight anyone who might be able to compete with him and he just bashed that guy. He got paid millions, show us the ceiling!
Maybe. Maybe not. Every time he moves up, they say he'll be the weaker guy in the clinch, but always turns out to be the other way around. Let's see how Crawford looks stomping a mudhole in Charlito The Gazelle before we call it settled science. On the other hand, if it turns out that Crawford finds himself in deep water, you think he goes into survival mode like Charlito or tries to fight his way out? I am undecided.
True, Canelo does hit harder and there's no chance Bud stops or even hurts Canelo. But l still think Buds counters can have enough pop on them to make Canelo hesitate and not just wade in, which isn't his style anyway. Canelo could get out boxed and then simply end the fight dramatically like he did against BJS.
Bud is too small to fight at 168, his reach might help him last tyhe distance, however I would prefer to see Bud v Charlo to compare Bud`s finishing ability to Canelo`s P4P, if Bud can`t floor Charlo then his punches will have no effect at 168 v Canelo.
