This. I just wrote it in another thread. This ******* went into the ring to laugh at the aficionado's faces. He should have his purse withheld. Exactly that.
If a guy who committed a murder gets free, it doesnt mean that all murderes should get free. Stupid arguments are stupid and are usually given by stupid people. What we watched yesterday was not a fight. It was a scam. And Charlo should get his purse withheld, because he's a scammer.
Nahh, the man deserves to get paid. Yes, he disappointed, but he also hung in there over 12 rounds with the greatest fighter of our generation. A lesser fighter would have quit or got stopped. He deserves his peydey, he did better than Spence did against Bud.
Anyone who bought the PPV and thought they were going to view a competitive fight should be treated for Severe Wishful Thinking Disorder.
Yeaaah it was getting kind of close to that. He wasnt trying to win to be honest. I was quite disgusted when i saw how clean his face was after 12 rounds. If you win every round and your face is clean, great. If you lose and your face looks like gulasch because you tried, respect. But if you lost every round and you dont have a scratch on your face then its quite clear that you werent trying to win
He lost almost every round, but he did land some decent shots on Canelo from time to time. I don't think it's a conscious decision to not try to win, it's more like you get in there and realize you're in there with an ATG and can only do so much.
Nah you can still choose to try and go out on your back. Ive boxed amateur i know that its a conscious effort to survive. Nobody told him to run around, hug. His trainer told him go get him, yojre gonna lose the fight etc... he made that choice.
Charlo fought smart, you can't stand right in front of Canelo. He needed to use lateral movement, the problem was he didn't have the normal spring in his feet. He needed to not only use lateral movement, but to time Canelo with jabs and straight rights while he was on the move. He only did that a handful of times. He needed to do that consistently, instead he ended up getting caught on the ropes, or just standing in front of Canelo with the high guard. That's not how he was ever going to win this fight. Clinching and tying Canelo up was smart, these are things he needed to do, otherwise he would have been brutalized like so many others.
No he was never long or fast enough to win it with an outside game. He should have recognized that by round 3-4 and gone to plan B, push him back long and strong. If that doesnt work just go all out. He was surviving smart, not fighting smart. Charlo didnt come to win, he patted himself on the back for surviving and didnt go all out like his trainer told him to at the end.
Agreed, he didn't go all out. But the way in which he could win was not by going balls to the wall, but rather just by using his feet, his length, his skills, and finesse etc and just outboxing Canelo from the outside, frustrating Canelo was his herky jerky movement and having better conditioning down the stretch. His path to victory was never just deciding to stand there and trading with Canelo, that was always a recipe for disaster.
Outrageous post that gives a gutless, weak performance undue credit. Charlo fought smart? Smart enough to lose 12 rounds. He didn’t even try plan B when it was obvious that plan A wasn’t working. The guy is a coward who sleeps with the lights on.
