Depends on your definition of "back" It was good to see that Alvarez didn't run out of gas for the first time in four fights. He was constantly throwing punches and cutting off the ring against Rabbit Charlo. However, once again Canelo threw one punch at a time. He's been doing that for awhile and he is not close to as devastating as the man who threw deadly, quick, powerful combinations seven or eight years ago. This is the fourth fight in a row he has been forced to go the distance. The fights against Ryder and Charlo were one-sided and the Alvarez of the past would have knocked them out. All in all, Alvarez was good but he is most certainly not back.
No, he is not. He would have a tough time with any fighter who has solid defence and lets his hands go. Charlo has like 50% KO ratio at 154lbs, he is not a volume puncher and his style is perfect for Canelo. I knew he was going to lay on ropes, getting body punches and throwing 3 power shots per round.
Canelo looked sharp. But Bivol is still his keeper. Lol And Canelo was actually talking about fighting Usyk before Bivol
Yes. Charlo was terrified and went out sad. Senior citizen GGG did more than Charlo did. Jermell collected a check, nothing more.
Canelo can't be back from that Bivol fight. There is no way great fighter would lose 11 rounds to someone.
Canelo usually doesnt knock out those type of guys that just try to survive. Smith, Chavez Jr for example. He didnt knock out cotto trout or lara either because they moved. His lack of punch utput is worrying i agree, it seems he needs to plant himself and "see the shot" before he takes it instead of just working. He is starting to take too long to pull the trigger but fighting bigger slower guys helps, since he will usually be sharper than them. Then again Ryder is just really tough, Charlo didnt take that much punishment anyway. His face was clean after the fight. I feel like he should have gone for it more in the Golovkin trilogy. No reason to let the old man back into the fight and let him take several rounds off of you
An opponent moving up 2 weight categories to fight him.....reminds me of the time Amir Khan done the same!!! Its the equaivalent of Fury v Chisora/Whyte.....trash match up for easy money imo. I suppose after the embarrassment he suffered against Bivol then he required an easy nights work to look as if he still has it!!
No he didnt say that, did he? Just speculation by the fans. His team talked about mukabu but usyk would have been outrageous
This,,,he fought with no intentions of winning. It was a successful cash grab on his part nothing more and Canelo obliged by throwing one punch at a time. A sparring session sold as a fight.
