Do you get irrationally angry when your favourite fighters are criticised?

15 years ago it would have irked me more but nowadays i am quite serene. I quite often comment if i see any fighter, like them or not, getting endless unfair shyte or copping loads of bias. It's what turned me from an almost hater into a SRL fan. Plenty of peeps in here will comment if an inordinate amount of unfairness pops up on guys tho. I'll still debate on behalf of my faves reasonably often tho.

 

I swear Stevie, my first quick scan of your post had me misreading: -

I thought that was GOLD in its own right and was absolutely going to borrow it for the future.

Perhaps a good case in point - MoneyTheMan - did he get anyone angry or just feeling pity or a bit of both?

I mean, definitely, free speech is good - but surely we’ve gotta draw the line somewhere - for the greater good. Lol.

 

I thought about controlling the anger by writing letters to those people and then burn them...but I don't know what to do with the letters.

I should’ve guessed there was a barely contained dark side to impossibly nice posters like yourself and Solomon. Too good to be true.

So, it’s all peaches and creams until someone badmouths one of your favourites - the thin veneer then immediately drops off and your true, inner beasts are released.

Better the devils you (now) know...

Perhaps allow the burnt remains to accumulate in a specially reserved urn - when full, release and scatter them upon the ocean - your inner angst will then be released also. Very cathartic.

 

If they layout objectively cogent points based on weaknesses,styles etc no ,its only one mans opinion against another's after all.If however its based on a dislike of the fighter for whatever reason then yes,I get annoyed.

 

Re getting irrational when one of my favorites is criticized, I haven't felt that way lately, but there's no telling what the future holds. Generally if I get upset it's because I feel someone else is being irrational, not me. To my mind, I'm never irrational!

 

This was me the last time someone impugned one of my favourite fighters.

I was working part time as a chef at a restaurant - (of course), and this was before I later became a much more calm hotel manager.

Anyway, this patron, out of nowhere, slipped in some smart *** comment about Joe Louis being “low tech”, “primitive” and “no good” because all his fights were in black and white.

A man can only take so much.

I have learned to control my emotions since then…but barely.

That pesky Spanish waiter made a few derogatory comments about Joe holding his left hand too low, once you became that hotel manager and there were times when he did that, no disrespect intended, that I'd describe your demeanour as less than "calm".

 

show them this and they were by no means alone - Hundreds of them... When the Film Footage is RIGHT so too are the Fighters!

You’ve caught me in a porky pie Greg.

ManuelTheMan repeatedly pushed me way further than I thought was even possible.

I wasn’t trying to lie per se - I just didn’t want to relive the trauma - trying to pretend it never happened.

Just the word Barcelona triggers me into unspeakable words and actions.

Worse still, he once said that IF only Uzcudun had been younger, he would’ve whipped The Bomber’s ***!

To compound matters, the Beehived Head Mrs with the phone permanently glued to her ear always sided with Manuel and blamed me for everything.

Looking back on it, I should’ve run off with the maid Polly - she was a little hottie.
