Tim Witherspoon In The Early 50's?

Since we are lucky enough to have Tim on this forum,I thought I'd match him with the heavies of the early 50's.

Walcott
Charles
Marciano
Lastarza
Henry
Baker
How does he do against this," Magnificent Seven" ?

 

I really think at his very best, Tim stands a reasonable chance of beating anyone of those.
It's not a given, he did have off days for one reason or another, but put him in there, in top shape and no out side issues, and the likes of Rocky, Walcott Charles etc, have a fight on their hands.

 

Marciano would certainly have no walk in the park with a motivated Tim who was assured he was getting his full purse.

 

Marciano wouldn’t stand a chance. Disadvantages like 5 inches in height and about 10 in reach. 40lbs in weight.

 

Realistically he probably picks up a 1 or 2 losses unless you're creating a fantasy scenario where Witherspoon is at his 100 percent peak in every fight which realistically wouldn't happen.

Witherspoon did get outboxed by Renaldo Snipes so he probably would have problems vs smaller skillful Heavyweights like Walcott, Charles, especially Walcott who was awkward and tricky like Snipes but on a higher level to Snipes.

Louis was far too gone at that point I think.

Marciano could outhustle Witherspoon who's overhand right wouldn't be that effective vs the smaller crouching Marciano. But Marciano never really beat a guy the size and talent of Witherspoon so hard to tell really.

I think Witherspoon beats the others.

Louis Charles Walcott Marciano would all beat him the others had a chance. For me Tim was a talented guy that was an underachiever in an era of lazy heavyweights. He would have to be in great shape to compete in the 50's to even make it to the top 10, throw in Archie Moore who would stop Tim IMO

 

Moore couldn't stop Valdes ,why would he manage it against Tim?
Cockell got to number 2 in the 50's.

 

I'm not that confident Walcott would beat Tim, he lost to much less fighters than him.

 

Tougher fight than the one with Ezzard Charles for Marciano.

 

Timmy at his beats all of these in the versions they existed in this era. And I'm not even talking about the A+ version of WItherspoon but any version down to a B-.

 

Rocky had a cooler accent.

 

I really can't see Tim fight at the pace especially a 15 rd fight - Moore stopped Bob Baker and had a relatively easy time with Nino X2.

I think stamina would be an issue for Tim in this era. IMO

 

Louis was an absolute mummy in the 1950's. Timmy would Eklund his ass.
