He's like 18 to 20 years past his absolute physical peak and can't take a good shot anymore. Might be in bad financial shape to even consider this. He's also probably closer to 50 than 40 since it's well-known he's not actually his listed age.
Helenius knocked out the last iota of his prime. I can't believe he's still at it a dozen years later...or that he actually fought in five bouts in one year as recently as 2019.
oh come on. all of us know that he will be "duck fury's" next opponent after the mma fighter, right? it will be advertised that a powerful puncher is coming out of retirement and fury is graciously giving the once feared champion one last shot at glory!
He should get into shape and go on the celebrity boxing/BKB circuit if he's desperate for a payday. Even shot Peters power would likely be too much for that crowd.
Peter is another guy that while I can't prove it, I'm certain is far older than his "listed" age. The only person at HW that actually "outboxed" Toney to a dominant win. And doing it despite the fact that he really wasn't a great "boxer", just a real slugger. But for that one night...............wow. Actually had 2 decent runs at HW, most guys can't say that.
He's listed as 43 years old but,,,,? I think he's just playing around. His last 2 fights in 2019 he was stopped By Hughie Fury and blasted out by Makhmudov in 1 and he's certainly not gotten any better. As others have mentioned he seems like a genuinely nice man who you'd like to have dinner and a beer with. That is something that should be valued much higher in todays society. I hope he stays safe
That’s what I thought at first, but looking at what he has been posting on IG lately, he looks to be training pretty seriously for someone not interested in a comeback. Heck, I was about blown over when I saw him doing pull ups haha. I wouldn’t have thought he could do those at this age lol.
I have always wondered why more notable past prime heavyweight boxers don’t go down the BKB route. They would absolutely destroy the competition there, especially the sluggers like Peter. All I can think is that the paydays must be very small in BKB, even at the top level, though I have no idea what the money is actually like.
Should scare him back into retirement and tell him Vitali activated his grandfathered in WBC champion emeritus status.
