Does it annoy anyone else that it's become mainstrem parlance now to call Floyd "The Best Ever"?

Which is even more nuts considering a boxer with a LEGIT claim of the single GOAT was in his era

I know Floyd has a bit of an ego (did I say a bit?) lol. But really, this is the type of confidence these guys need to compete at such a high level. Mayweather's attitude and personality had just as many paying to see him lose as win, maybe even more. It obviously worked for him.

The main thing though is that he could back the mouth up with his amazing abilities, he is definitely AN ATG, but certainly not THEE.

we'll never know how good floyd mayweather could have been.
his careful match making was a waste of a talent in my opinion.

I think we can fairly argue since 2000 and onwards, Floyds H2H skills and resume puts him in the top 15 category of all boxers we've seen since then, but he's not even number one in that. No way. Off the top of my head I'd argue Beterbiev, Pacqiao, Canelo, Hopkins, Beterbiev and Lewis are all just as impressive, if not moreso than Floyd. Crawford, Usyk and Bivol could be the next couple of guys to join that list of better-than-Floyd depending on how their careers turn out.

If we're counting pre-2000, well obviously not. You get into the real GOATs like SRR, Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Ali, Foreman, Holmes, etc. All of which are undeniably higher ranking in their respective weight classes than Floyd is in his own.

I do think its fair to say Floyd could be the most successful boxer ever yeah. Has a solid resume, great H2H skills, left the game largely in good health, amassed a huge fortune without ruining it and is helping the younger guys make their way.

Yes, he's nowhere near the best ever, unless you are referring to ducking.

H is TBE. Fact. Love him or hate him no one can dispute his greatness.

    His resume speaks for itself.

Many people don't realize that he isn't just talking about inside of the ring. That's part of it, sure, but he is talking about the GAME of boxing. No one has ever played the game better.

When it comes to the totality of everything, he is clearly the best that ever did it.

C'mon now, he's a solid fighter. He's a first ballot hall of famer. If you consider him an ATG, fine. If you don't consider him an ATG, fine. Either way I'm OK with that. But the kid could fight. Point blank, period

Damn it Serge, did you really have to put Floyd and the word ''fight'' in the same sentence ? You're practically asking for CJ to enter this thread and spend 2 pages arguing with Pimp C, saying that Floyd was not a real fighter in all caps and exclamation marks in the double digits.

Its just marketing. If you repeat something long enough people are iften to repeat it. Those people who call gim tbe on youtube can only name Ali and Tyson as other boxers. Maybe Jake Paul as well.
