Disagree. Beyond a certain point the rah rah bs creates unreasonable expectations from the fans and fighters both and the sport suffers as a result.

So your approach is a glass half empty, be negative and be a dominant force against the rising tide?

    To each their own.

Nah. Kostya had a good run from 98 to the Judah fight. That was his prime. He was really good then. Ask again in a few years though. Also Mendoza is a live underdog today.

    No.

Kostya was a higher-level fighter, although Tim has more power.

Kostya was one of the first fighters to show the talent behind the Iron Curtain that was waiting to come to the professional ranks.

The only other guy I can recall who was an early great (before or around Kostya's time) from the Iron Curtain was Michalczewski, but his story was a bit different because he defected to Germany a few years before the USSR broke up.

Kostya was, I think, the first truly great fighter who had come from the Iron Curtain who had not defected. Not that there weren't other great Iron Curtain fighters before him, but they weren't allowed to have pro careers.

No, but he might get to fight some A-level Doodles.

If he fights & defeats A-level Doodles, he will have achieved something Dad never did.

Tim does not have more power. He has heavy hands but does not have the sharp pop his Dad had, plus not as fast or as good overall. A step below overall.

So for father and son/daughter boxers, I was looking at the all time list. It has Leon and Cory Spinks as #1, Floyd and Tracy Patterson as #2, Muhammad and Laila as #3, Lenny and Ray Mancini as #4, Wilfredo Vazquez Sr. and Jr. as #5, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Jr. as #6, Guty Espadas Sr. and Jr. as #7, Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Jr. as #8, Joe and Marvis Frazier as #9 and Chris Eubank Sr. and Jr. as #10.

Surely, Kostya and Tim Tszyu father and son combination makes the top 10 list. I think I would put them at #4, pushing Lenny and Ray Mancini down to #5 because both Kostya and Tim are champions. I remember back when Ray was fighting that the commentators were saying that Lenny never got the chance to fight for the title because of his World War 2 injury. I guess Chris Eubank Sr. and Jr. drop off the list as everyone else moves down one spot. Besides for his fight with Phillips and his last fight where Hatton stopped him, Kostya looked so dominant throughout his career to me. Timofei is looking that way to me as well. Woohoo go Soul Taker! I can't wait to watch the rest of his career.
