I think he just played it safely as he thought he was ahead.

I was at the fight, you could cut the tension with a knife, at no point did Mendoza not look dangerous.

I just watched the fight and scored it here's my scorecard.

    1 Mendoza
    2 Tszyu
    3 Mendoza
    4 Mendoza
    5 Tszyu
    6 Mendoza
    7 Tszyu
    8 Tszyu
    9 Tszyu
    10 Tszyu
    11 Tszyu
    12 Mendoza

    115-113 Tszyu

I think Tszyu looked different class when he opened up and power difference was very apparent, but Tszyu didn't do much in the first 4 rounds and coasted the 12th round which made it somewhat of a close fight.

I would say looking at the fight overall Tszyu certainly appeared to win the fight quite clearly, and he was the only fighter doing real damage with his punches. But as i said i feel Mendoza did out hustle Tszyu in a few of the early rounds when Tszyu wasn't do a whole lot making it a fairly close fight but still no doubt Tszyu won it.

Pleased I got up early to watch this one; Mendoza took a beating, but that doesn't preclude that it should have been close on the cards. Tzsyu allowed himself to be outworked in the first half of the fight and he also took round 12 off, so there is six rounds you could feasibly give to Mendoza (1-4, 6, and 12)
People are mentioning the Charlo fight as a possibility in the future but I don't see what Tzsyu has for him; his lack of a jab, slow feet and the way he just ambles into range would make him vulnerable against Charlo IMO.

I scored this morning 115/113 but it was damn close thanks to Tim being off the first half of the fight. This was a classic

Solid score. Not only was Tim off, but he was off, because fear of Mendoza's power, speed and unpredictability kept him apprehensive and hesitant to commit. Which certainly should send up warning signs to his horde of somewhat unhinged fanboys.

Do you reckon an active Israil Madrimov is a problem for the top guys at 154? Hearn said that Madrimov is waiting for Charlo's titles to become vacant and could fight J.J Metcalf next on the Cameron vs Taylor II card.

I've never been all that thrilled with Madrimov either, although I do think it's quite telling that Tim hasn't fought even one worthwhile southpaw since he's way too close for comfort encounter with Wade Ryan early in his career. So yeah, stylistically, Madrimov will probably present a few more issues than the average opponent for him.

DVR cut off mid 5th or 6th tried catching it this morning

Didn't score the fight, not terribly impressed with either guy and the fight was kind of dull.

Tim, I like that he constantly applies pressure and he hits hard and can take. I'm not sure he throws enough or moves his head enough to be truly elite and I see nothing to indicate he's the favorite for charlo or that charlo is "ducking"

    Nah it's definitely his sister.

They showed her on camera and the commentators confirmed to Porter that was Tim's sister yelling.

More or less even fight. Had 7-5 for Tim, but 7,10 and 11 rounds alone were for me enough to give him W, haha
