I didn't get a chance to see the fight. Still, based on the highlights, Tszyu looked phenomenal: composure, distance management, sharp counters, good defence, shot placement and power, hurting Mendoza on several occasions, nearly finishing him. This content is protected
Tszyu looked good between rounds 6-11 but in the others rounds he was cautious and a bit passive, probably bit wary of Mendoza who has scored some pretty good KO's.
I watched the highlights only, but from the highlights this looked like such a slow paced, 1st gear affair and low octane "action". Won't be watching Tszyu's fights anymore. Just not entertaining for me.
I am trying to make a friend of mine a boxing fan, so after he watched Canelo vs Charlo, he told me it was a **** fight and he couldnt believe Charlo, who is unified champ run like a ***** and didnt even try to win. He was impressed by Mendosa's will to win and generally enjoyed this bout. I am not a big fan of Tszyu, he is kinda one dimensional, but i like his spirit and he could become an unified champ in this weak division.
It amazes me the number of people who try comparing this to Canelo vs Charlo. Obviously this fight was going to be better because Mendoza and Tsyzu are the same weight class. Mendoza was able to fight with everything he had and not be too worried about return fire because Tsyzu ain't worlds above him. Canelo is 2 whole weight divisions ahead of Charlo, arguably 3 considering Canelo has competed in LHW before. Guys in LHW were unable to hurt him and we're talking pure power monsters like Kovalev. Charlo never stood a chance even from the beginning which even he knew which is why he never bothered to try. If your going to compare Tsyzu and Charlo, base it off Charlo vs Castano or any of his other opponents at 154. Keep it fair and unbiased.
He is a casual fan. Btw he didnt even noticed Charlo was 2 divisions below. I dunno Charlo's fight night weight, but Boots Ennies said that he walks around 180lbs. You talking about Canelo being bigger ( yes, he is fighting at heavier weight classes, but i dont know if he is really bigger than Charlo ) and better is true, but do you mean it just as statement or as excuse for Charlo's pathetic performance? Because if it so, it means fighters who are outclassed, should just come for pay check like Charlo did and its kinda ok...
I really liked Canelo v BJS. Good mixture of fighting styles in that one and BJS was turning the tide of the fight until he got sloppy. Plant was a good mixture of styles too but Plant was more defensive and seemed content losing a close decision whereas BJS was trying to win rounds (we'll never know if that strategy can work given how Canelo gets some wild scorecards...Lara, Floyd, GGG, Bivol, etc)
Another good old fashion Sydney beat down. The US keep sending their best and Tszyu keeps sending them back busted up and broken.
