160 seems to be Janibek’s division for the taking and I don’t think anyone in that weight class can beat him currently. I definitely see him becoming undisputed at some point.

Do you see Janibek taking over GGG’s spot as the new Kazakh destroyer of 160?

Yep, not as good as GGG but still good. He will build his reputation the same way GGG did too. Knocking over top contenders in one sided fights while being avoided by the name fighters.

I think so. I was just telling my wife about him in comparison to GGG.

Man he looked pretty baddass in there tonight. Not ready to start making fantasy fight threads about how Alimkhanuly might do against Hagler just yet, but he looked formidable tonight.

I really liked what I saw tonight. Not many active fighters who can put combinations together like that while moving backwards. He has a very good jab too. More of a Bivol than a GGG/Beterbiev type, but he's QAZAQ so sure.

Yeah. His style is, as noted right above, not really the same as GGG, but he's heavy handed and Kazakh and a middleweight so he'll always be compared to GGG. I don't think he's as good as GGG was but he could go a long way.

10 KO's from 15 wins against largely meh. opposition being equated to a top 10 MW is a bit of a stretch at the moment. Will in all likelihood be a World Champion for quite some time given how poor the MW division is right now but, let's not get too excited eh.

MW is in an almost hibernation state currently. GGG retired and Jermall retired/waiting on Canelo at 168...not that Jermall was much of a champ at 160 anyways.

    So who's even there? Munguia?

Janibek would ****ing wreck Charlo (who got beat by old inactive Korobov who caught him with left hands). Andrade already ducked him

Good fighter but nothing special. He's not nearly as technically gifted nor does he hit as hard as GGG.

Same. He is too much of an obligate counter puncher and lacks nuances in his style. Plus he is somewhat boring.

Janny looks set to follow in the Brit Bashing tradition of Golovkin, Canelo, Sergio Martinez and Linares. Hearn and Warren got plenty of fringe world level contenders lined up.

The guy he fought was a champion? I find that hard to believe. I saw unification fight and thought maybe it would be something good. I was rong

Had an amature career off 300 fights 8 losses....As an amateur, he won gold medals at the 2013 World Championships, 2013 Asian Championships and 2014 Asian Games. He also represented Kazakhstan at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the middleweight division, losing in the quarter-finals....Would not underestimate Him.!!!!
