He should fight Benavidez. Win, lose or draw he should fight Bud after that and sail into the sunset. That would give him one of the best resumes of all time. He has no business in a ring with Bivol or Beterbiev. He's too schmall. No amount of Mexican beef is going to save him from a schooling(Bivol) or permanent brain damage(Beterbiev)
One of the best of all time?? Victories over the likes of.... Charlo John Ryder Caleb Plant Saunders Yildirum Callum Smith Liam Smith Rocky Fielding Kermit Cintròn Alfonso Gomez Austin Angulo Amir Khan Ryan Rhodes Matthew Hatton Throw in a couple of gifts against GGG....nah hardly a list of who's who in his resume from the last 12 years
James Hudson? Thee James Hudson? Oh man, this is such an honor. I can now die a happy man. My dad won't believe that the one and only James Hudson responded to my post. Thank you so much. All the great you have done for the sport of boxing cannot be measured and unlike Trout and Lara, will not be forgotten.
I'm all for criticizing Canelo's choices as much as the next guy, but the one thing I can't criticizing is his resume. Win, lose, draw or even ducking, he's done better than anyone else in todays era when it comes to the number of top fights across different weight classes. Since 2013, he's had a number of quality fighters added to his resume such as GGG, Floyd, Bivol, Charlo, Kovalev, Saunders, Plant, Khan, Mosley, Cotto, etc. I mean, what other guy out there has a resume as good as that? Perhaps Bivol, Beterbiev and perhaps Usyk considering his accolades as a cruiser, especially if he fights Fury. Heck I'd even throw in Jermell Charlo. Despite his refusal to put forth effort against Canelo, even he has a better resume than 90% of other boxers out there at the moment. For all the hate he gets, I think the sport will miss Canelo once he leaves.
Through his actions he's made it pretty clear he's not fighting Benavidez , and expecting Bud a 35 year old welterweight to fight at 168 is ridiculous.
Unless I'm mistaken, Bud is a trained wrestler before he was a trained boxer. Wrestler strength is a funny thing. Kids (like teengers) in competitive programs do ridiculous things to themselves in pursuit of glory. They end up being the Marines that charge up the hill and depopulate the bunker. For fun. He might actually have comparable overall strength to the bowling ball (per Tim Bradley) Canelo. I wanna see Crawford fight somebody decent at 154 or 160 and then if proves strong at the weigh, go for legit ATGness by fighting Canelo before he is the ghost of Canelo. My heroes are past it. Hagler is dead. Frazier is dead. There's always JMM. He'll for sure outlive me. George will probly outlive me too, but still....
