It's official! Filip Hrgovic is fighting for the world title: the IBF assigned him an opponent.

If Hrgovic cant get Joshua, then Wallin is the best next option, shame he wont make money on it.

 

Because he surely would want him to fight for a real championship rather than a fake one.

 

He doesn't get to do that for sure, because Fury-Usyk has a rematch clause. He does get an almost one hundred percent chance at the IBF if that happens. Even a strap equals huge negotiation leverage and purse percentage, as well as eventual unification money.

 

Hrgovic UD, Wallin is tough.

 

But it is worthless. It is taken from the champion without fighting the champion for it.

Who wants a belt like that?

 

While I understand the sentiment, those men risk a lot, and almost certainly sacrifice some of their later years. The strap means money, exposure, and better potential fights. If they want to bring glory to the title, they are free to pursue other top fighters after it's no longer vacant.

 

To get a vacant strap it means you hope a champion gets stripped rather than face him in the ring.

A true fan would never want that.

 

Fighting for a vacant is the best chance Hrgovic has of getting Fury or Usyk in the ring with him.
