Look at his harassment of Shalom too in his interviews. A young man trying to make his way in the game and Hearn and his lapdog are trying to bully him out. No surprise from Hearn though who’s an absolutely deplorable individual.
This content is protected Seems like Eubank Jr wants Benn next instead of Janibek. Just goes to show how big of a fight it is that he’d refuse a world title shot to fight Benn. Hopefully they ride it out until next summer so we can see it in-front of 90,000 at Wembley rather than in the Middle East.
Sold out the O2 in a few hours. It’s a much bigger fight now. It would do huge numbers. A lot of my causal friends were talking about the first fight before it got cancelled.
As much as I hate to agree, with the right pricing it'd fill Wembley easily. Maybe not a 1-hour sellout or anything like that, but it's an "event" that will draw in casuals, celebs, every ridiculous person under the sun. It's a shame to tarnish the UK's legacy of big stadium grudges with proper big names - Ali, the future greatest against Cooper; Bugner against peoples' champion Bruno; World champion Lewis against Bruno; World champions Benn-Eubank 2; Froch a multiple world champion against Groves... In truth Eubank-Benn is little better than Misfits and pretty much for the same fan base.
I don't think it is a much bigger fight. Everyone I know can't stand Benn and don't want to see him getting a payday. On top of that Benns dire performance in Florida reminded everyone just how crap he is. God knows why Hearn thinks he is gonna be the next big thing
There’s a lot more hype about the fight. People who dislike Benn because of the failed drugs test are in the minority compared to casual fans and even those people will tune in to watch Benn got knocked out (whether they admit it or not). I’m sure Hearn doesn’t believe Benn is a world-beater, but he knows he’s a big name with big fights available for him. I’m sure he’s fuming the 1st one was cancelled as Benn would have won at that weight with the rehydration clause. If it happens in Abu Dhabi on December 23, I guarantee there will be a rematch at a stadium in 2024 regardless of how competitive the fight actually is.
Good points, and probably true, however, there remains the dark possibility that the Benn that failed those tests, against a massively dehydrated and depleted Eubank could have caused a death in the ring. I despise Benn , and I hate the fact that he'll probably get a huge undeserved payday , one which I won't be contributing to.
Back in the day when Sky was in it's pomp doing all the build up you would have had all the casuals chomping at the bit to watch the fight. But on DAZN the fight won't be nearly as big. I for one wouldn't pay 1 penny to watch Benn fight whether I want him to get smashed or not. And I don't think Frank Smith's comments about builders would have gone down well with their casual target audience There's no doubt some will still want to watch it but I just don't think the demand is half as big as Hearn thinks it is
That's a good point, Sky are actually brilliant at hyping an event, and Sky is easily accessible, and most people probably have it in their homes, because of other things they want to watch, so as a result, they'll be exposed to the Sky hype machine, with it's big explosive ads, and excellent production values etc etc. DAZN on the other hand........well, it's a niche product, and it's production values leave a lot to be desired, in addition, I think that a lot of people would resent lashing out precious cash on an event where neither of the opponents are particularly popular, or liked, unlike their forebears, the very popularity of which, such an event would be reliant on.
All I hear on the streets is people sickened by a drugs cheat. Now he is firmly out of sight, out of mind with inactivity and his latest 'fight' being hidden away to a couple of dozen subscribers on DAZN UK in the middle of the night has cemented this profile. Apart from failing TWO Drugs Tests, nobody has heard anything about him. Drugs cheats should be ignored not promoted. Shame on Matchroom and DAZN UK.
From a sporting perspective it is disappointing that Eubank would postpone a world title shot. From a business perspective it makes sense to go after the Benn fight. Eubank will make serious bank. Also, with Benn's last showing, it is clear he doesn't have the same power up at 160 and will be very small, so it will be an easy nights work for Eubank. In Hearns recent comments they want to stage the fight in the UK which makes me believe the middle Eastern money isn't nailed down
