He was very fun to watch but could get out muscled. Saw his fight with Melvin Paul in which he lost but gave a great account of himself. His huge win was when he Outboxed Robin Blake in Blake's hometown. He was actually the favorite to beat Bramble but Bramble was just too strong for him at the time. He became a Police Officer in Philly and his son boxed I believe as well. You would like Calvin Grove if you like Crawleys style.
I think he was a cop in the Midland/Odessa area in Texas. Wish more happy endings like these took place in boxing. The two were pro boxers at pretty high levels unfortunately never got to the top but didn't hang around too long. Younger boxers need to really take note- you can box and do OTHER things as well.
Very good contender. Beat good fighters in Gene Hatcher, Robin Blake, Edwin Curet, and Charlie Brown. He was the type of guy who SHOULD have won a world title but fell just a hair short.
