Tyson Luke Fury vs. Francis Zavier Ngannou

I don't know. There very little interest in the fight.

I don't actually know of anyone planning on buying it.

 

Think it will do decently well because of the numerous media covering & all the advertising everywhere plus the tv ads & promos for it.

The rowdy UFC casuals will gladly eat it up which will account for most of the buys as they are very easy to please & give away their money away on a monthly basis for whatever Dana White scrums up to feed them.

 

I’d watch it but I wouldn’t pay - but I could say that about a lot more “legit” matches also.

My guess is, since Fury has been out for a bit, he might be viewing this as a “dry” run with minimal risk for the big one vs Usyk.

Fury’s certain not going to gain anything or tune himself up by way of the competition (or lack thereof) placed in front of him but he has gone through the rigours of training etc. and will be appearing and performing on the public stage.

Of course money is still the prime motivator.

 

The big money in boxing has always come from the casuals and never more so than now.

 

Ngannou looks painfully slow on the pads. Not holding out much hope this will be anything but a clown show for the casuals.

 

I don't believe Fury thinks it's a clown show or treating Francis like a clown.

Lots of ex kick boxers and martial artist have come into boxing and had success.

Vitali started as a kick boxer guy. Tex Cobb, Lucas Brown, and i can name more that started off in other combat sports.

It would be flawed thinking by Fury and his team to overlook Francis. This is a combat sport and both guys know what it feels like to put someone's lights out. Francis is in better shape than most of the hw division that is filled with fat obese fighters.

While I do see Fury beating Francis, I don't think Francis is different than any of Fury's last opponents who were in far lesser shape and could not even take a punch.

 

Those guys boxed simultaneously while doing other sports. Lucas was a bouncer and rugby player before he was anything in combat sports.
Francis boxed before he did MMA and switched to MMA because it was way easier.
Doesn't matter. Francis is terrible and will look like an absolute fool in there.

 

As did a lot of boxers that Fury has fought looked foolish. Half of Fury's resume are ex cab drivers. And some were heavy padded record wise.

Francis could beat a lot of the fighters in Fury's resume. I'm just pointing out that Francis is not the worst opponent Fury has ever faced.

Just remember that Connor did better than some of Floyds' previous fights that ended by ko sooner.

Conor tagged Floyd more than Ricky Hatton did, more than Victor Ortiz who was stopped in 4 rounds or Arturro Gatti..

And Conor won the first 3 rounds imo.

The point I'm making is that the top fighters in the ufc could fit in the top ranks of boxing, but they would all get beat, but it's still going to be a fight with some danger. It's not a chess match, this is violence. Francis is not different than Whyte, Chisora , etc.

 

The dude isn't having a career in boxing. If he was any good he'd have had a couple of warm ups. The clips of him sparring Takam are embarrassing btw.

 

not my point. accumulation of mma experience, is equivalent to a boxer who has fought cans in 80% of his fights.

There are plenty of kick boxers, muay thai, mma guys or sanda(chinese boxing), sambo guys, that can compete in a decent level in boxing.

None would win, but they are still fighters, and they still have a threat level to them.

Francis is slow, he picks his shots, and likes to play possum, he makes fighters have a false sense of security and then explodes on them with a flurry of wide haymakers. Will it work on Fury? probably not, but Fury isn't dumb to think he just goes in there and walks him down. He is still going to play the boxing game and jab-clinch- avoid danger until Francis fatigues.

I think a lot of boxing purist here have an unrealistic cartoonish way of looking at fighting.

If being a boxer for a lifetime was enough to coast , why did Fury's kid brother struggle with a youtuber?

Because boxers are human, and speed, power, good chin, genetics plays a role. As for Francis. He choose mma because that was the gym that was in france only taught mma, and it was easier to get fights and make bread. I don't think Francis would have not had a career in boxing, i think he would have been a decent boxer like Chisora or Dillian Whyte. He is a genetic freak.

 

Fury cashing in on the casuals before fighting Usyk for all the belts.

Life can be extremely lucrative when you are a world heavyweight champion.

 

This has less cred than Rocky Balboa vs Thunderlips.

If you had told Floyd and Conor that, if they KO the other one in the first 3 rounds, they get the entire fight purse. Floyd wouldve KOd Conor in the 1st round.
You've never seen Floyd fight if you think that Conor was outboxing him. That was a clear work if there ever was one. Floyd had to just stand there and not hit him to carry that fight.
And we just watched Jake Paul dismantle MMA fighters left and right. And Jake is garbage. Tommy Fury is too.
So how could the top of the UFC fit into the top of boxing when they cant beat Youtube guys?

If these youtubers are teaching anyone anything is that anyone can learn how to fight.

George Chavalo once said its the little things that separate the mediocre from the elite.

Fury vs anyone is a mismatch. Usyk is getting destroyed by Fury too. Split dec with Aj. No one is going to look good against Fury. Let Francis make his money.

 

MMA fighters are bigged up for boxing skills they simply don't have.

No elite MMA fighter wins a serious fight under the Marquess of Queensberry rules against any decent contender in boxing under the same weight conditions.
