Seems that Linares' personality has won him fans. I don't think Khan and Linares are HOF worthy. Linares doesn't have the quality of wins that are usually found on a HOF fighter's resume. And secondly, he's nothing special H2H. For all his ring artistry, he's not a particularly difficult puzzle to solve for any elite fighter and never was at any point of his career.

Neither was Amir himself, considering a one-dimensional complete bum in Breidis Prescott blitzed him. :sisi1

Agreed they both fall short of Canastota if we're pretending to adhere to any "worthiness" criteria rather than simply "fame" (in which case you have to say Khan is a lock, and Linares a hard maybe).

    No.

As a fighter, I don't know if Linares was as good as Roger Mayweather, for instance. And Roger Mayweather was also a world-class trainer.

And Roger Mayweather isn't in the Hall of Fame.

    Glass chin talk?

Serge Chin Checker, PhD, checking in

How many times were Khan and Linares actually sparked out cold?

The only time Linares ever failed to beat the 10 count (when the ref allowed him to try and do so) was against Loma

He's never actually been put to sleep in any of his losses

His loss against DeMarco had nothing to do with a weak chin as his face was a mask of blood in that one and he took a lot of clean shots before the ref waved it off and was never down in that one IIRC

Khan was only sparked out once, by a Hail Mary clenbuterol bomb from hell from a way heavier juiced to high heaven 250lb Clenelo

He was still conscious after Prescott flattened him albeit barely

Finished on his feet against Kell and Garcia

He finished on his feet against Crawford who could only get him out of there on an illegal savage blow to his testicles

IIRC Enzo Mac was only ever put to sleep by Frenkel

IIRC David Price was only ever put to sleep by Teper

Audley was put to sleep twice, by Sprott and Price

Now let's compare them to Roy

Roy was sparked out cold ie. put to sleep x 3 and he was juiced to high heaven

Another very important thing to factor in is that every shot which KO'd Linares, Khan, Enzo, Price and Audley would've unquestionably sparked Roy out cold, whereas, conversely, none of the shots which sparked out Roy would've even rocked or wobbled any of them

So does Roy have the worst chin of all time?

I do not like this comparison. RJJ was not knocked out until he was 35+

Roy was juiced to high heaven all throughout his supposed prime and barely fought any punchers.

Linares is 38 y/o, which is obviously very old for a leprechaun division fighter, and even though he is supposedly glass-jawed he has never been put to sleep once so the comparison is perfect.

How does explain his KO losses then? Glass heart? Paper skin? Something has got to explain it.

Never said he doesn't have below average punch resistance

    He does

But it is indeed true he has never been put to sleep whereas all those other glass-chinned fighters have been, some more than once, Roy x 3 in HL reel fashion

He does have below average skin resistance too

I just said Roy has worse

The worst ever for a multi-weight champ

Could be wrong or misremembering but didn't Sergio Thompson flatline Linares may have been Juan Carlos salgado?

    Both stopped him

The Thompson fight was actually stopped due to a cut. Linares had been dropped once, was hurt, but the doctor waved it off after inspecting the cut. Had he not Linares might have got dropped again and legitimately stopped but we'll never know if he could've rode out out the storm. Even then I wouldn't attribute that loss to a glass jaw because Thompson caught him flush with a lot of big shots in quick succession.

Salgado dropped him twice but he beat the count and was in no position to continue
