Sky are not going to ditch boxing, but there will be some changes which might even be beneficial to Boxxer. Adam Smith is also scheduled to be back first quarter of 2024. Source: Trust me bro.
I don´t understand the debate about whether Sky Sports will stop investing in Boxing, but I recognize that it is skillfully staged by Matchroom's asslickers.
Will be a minor package with huge price increases to follow resulting in even less subscribers who can watch elsewhere anyway. DAZN UK will never make money.
I know for a fact they reviewed leaving when Matchroom left. They were talked into by some to invet and build the next set of PPV stars and get the PPVs back as this is the only method Sky are interested in. The content being put up and the content being provided Sky are needed to cut costs and this is not drving numbers or looking likely to draw numbers any time soon. Its back on the table to not continue or review post the Boxxer deal. Boxxer getting and NBC deal was a direct result in trying to enlarge the budgets for shows. But unless they can build ASAP some kind of sellable fights Sky will likely either lower investment in boxing considerably or become a solely PPV provider. For instance Sky co-hosting Buatsi vs Yarde or shows like Eubank vs Smith allows them to have watchable content without losing bucket loads. The content Boxxer are putting out is worse than Queensbury and the budget is 3/4x a much. Ofcourse they will review. If they get Azim vs Petitjean, Chamberlain vs Lawal, Duboid vs Rodriquez, Marshall vs Crews Dezurn, Clarke vs Wach non PPV they will expect to pay not far off similar rights fees to what Queensbury get for Ball vs Dogboe, McCann vs Baluta, Davies vs Cunningham etc
The list of fights you mentioned that Boxxer have put on are very poor to be honest. You can’t sugarcoat it. I can see Sky Sports going to PPV only. It’s only a matter of time before they make that decision. I think 2024 may be the end of the Sky // Boxxer relationship.
So you obviously made that up…first I’m Sam Jones, then I’m a Matchroom employee, then I’m a DAZN employee, then I’m EverythingBoxing, and then I’m Frank Smith….you guys change your mind more than a chameleon changes it’s colours in a disco-ball factory!
Boxing is a sinking ship. Its pretty much done over here after Fury and Joshua sail off in their golden boat on their sea of money. Maybe Misfits can keep it beating but mainstream boxing is finished.
DAZN UK Box Office pinning their hopes on multiple drugs test failure Connor Henn shows that platform is struggling badly as well. Misfits, womens tripe and Campbell Hatton is the future.
@DramaShow it's seriously disturbing how much you talk about and defend everything to do with Matchroom/DAZN/Eddie Hearn. Serious, serious fanboy level. It really comes across like you work for them. You're doing a voluntary job for no money, it's deeply bizzare.
You certainly have time for a twitter page cause you spend your whole teenage life in here talking about Matchroom/Eddie Hearn/DAZN and boxing schedules/potential clashes of TV dates
Your hero/idol/inspiration/reason for living - Eddie Hearn seemed OVER THE MOON and super quick to announce Leigh Wood would be vacating the belt to move up. All because he wants Raymond Ford as the champ. Eddie cares more about his American stable more than his UK stable. Conquering America is his main priority.
Or maybe because Wood is tight at the weight and there are bigger fights available for him at 130. Ford won’t beat Kholmatov.
It’s never finished. Will just be a new era to come through. In the US there’s Haney, Garcia, Tank, Teo and Shakur that will keep fans busy over the next 2-5 years providing they actually fight without politics. The UK will hopefully have Delicious Orie medal at the next olympics and then we have him Ituama etc then Smith and Azim will happen down the road. There’s fights to keep it ticking over until the new stars are born
