Cruz fought very well out of the crouch in that fight. He had a lot of excellent tactics for pressuring him back and unloading thudding body shots. Even when Davis was countering and time him off the ropes, he came right back with his own shots in many of those exchanges. He kept a really sturdy high guard and just enough head movement to keep him in the fight. He was always going to give Gervonta a tough time that night. Props to Davis for making adjustments with those uppercuts, baiting counters and those leaning, extending pot shots.
