And that right there is everything that is wrong with the game. No offence to Ngannou but how is he entitled to even one fight with Fury, let alone a rematch when Usyk, AJ, Zhang and others have to wait it out?

If Fury doesn’t fight Usyk by say March (December won’t happen now) then he must be stripped.

Fighting Ngannou again cannot and must not be allowed to happen.

What's gone is Fury's movement, it's what till recently has made him such a difficult opponent, it frustrated his adversary, tired them and made them vulnerable.

He's got away with it being gone by picking mediocre opponents, Chisora, Whyte......and supposedly Ngannou, well that's what Fury thought.

A chance to showboat to a ringside Usyk.

Fixed? I don't think so, I think Ngannou surprised himself, as well as Fury.

Anyone who thinks Fury beats Usyk easily should watch Usyks last 3 fights, and Furys. Fury has size on his side, but imo Usyk looks fitter, hungrier, more focused and elusive. The ability to punch and slip away is largely gone for Fury, but Usyk has it.

Looking objectively I can't see how anyone can tip Fury to beat Usyk. I don't believe Usyk can knock him out, but a decent UD is very likely imo.

Agree with all the strength / clinching comments. Fury was in shock at just how much stronger Ngannou was. A few times he tried the clinch and was thrown off like he weighed nothing, quite cool to see. I guess shows the difference in strength requirements between MMA and boxing.

Wilder was 60 pounds lighter then Fury so Fury just layed all over him and gassed him bad, he couldn't do that against Francis.

He sort of had to go that way against Wilder because it was evident after the first fight it was going to be tough to win a decision.

It shouldn't be a big surprise. Anybody who has ever trained in collegiate wrestling or brazilian jiu-jitsu knows how strong you get from grappling on a daily basis. It's not just the physical strength, either. It's the ability to know how to manipulate and leverage the human body in the direction you want them to go. In boxing, you feint a jab to get your opponent to throw a jab in return so that you can step back and counter over the top of it with your right cross. In wrestling, you push a guy in one direction to get him to push back into you and then you step around him to make him fall forward as you get behind him. It's the same basic concept.

If you "spar" with somebody in wrestling or jiu-jitsu who has no experience, even if they're naturally strong, they often literally feel like a little kid in comparison. It's just a specific type of strength that you can't get from lifting weights. Francis was a boxing-centric striker by trade in mixed-martial arts, but he still has trained in grappling for years. Plus, I don't think anyone can deny that he is a physical specimen.

It was the perfect strategy and approach for the second Wilder fight, but it turned out to contribute to the decline of his career. Sure, he pressured and rough up people in the clinch and at close range earlier in his career. But he was always at the best when he was using his feints, his lateral movement, his head movement and his boxing. Those are all basically gone. You could really see it in the third chisora and Wilder fights. I think more than anything that the years of drug abuse, alcoholism, inactivity, obesity and laziness have caught up to him. You can't treat your body like a trash can as a professional athlete and expect that there's not going to be consequences.
