Nope, I want to see Zhang get a big payday as he deserves it more than Joyce who he knocked out twice. I'd be shocked if Zhang didn't get the ko on Ngannou. It would be Joyce 3 or good as. I don't see much benefit in him fighting Okolie or Chisora. Joshua yes, but Hearn is too scared for that.
What else is there for Joyce to do? He's 38. He's nowhere near a title shot now - especially not when all the titles are tied up between two guys who could easily not fight for another 6 months (or just as easily get delayed repeatedly and then never actually happen)... Joyce's odds of ever getting a title fight are pretty low. On top of that, he completely lacks any kind of defence - a fine chin has taken him a respectable distance, but the kind of guys he'd need to beat to get back into the title picture would do irreparable damage to him if he fought too many of them... Besides which, he'd need to be fighting very regularly to get into that picture at all given his age - and he takes too much damage to schedule regular fights, on top of which he's at an age where his recovery between bouts will be getting worse rather than better. Put it all together and I'm not at all convinced he could justify not taking a fight with Francis.
Sure, but why work for several meagre paydays like those and get hit plenty in the process (because cmon it's Joyce and he always does)... Ngannou at this point would sell a fair bit better than anyone else Joyce could get - why not cash out now while the pays good and carry on as a gatekeeper for the prospects if he still wants to? All this assumes Joe can get the Ngannou fight... Guys with a bigger draw will be after it.
Zhang would muller Ngannou. Fury just had a very bad night. If team AJ had half a brain they would pay Ngannou handsomely to fight AJ. Much better route than the Wilder fight for team AJ as I don’t see that one ending well
After seeing fury was unable to even make him a scratch leaving alone putting him to the canvas i would be not so sure here .
Honestly : yes . Fury did use his jab ( even when it was claimed different ) and also body shots . his hit rate was not that bad so i assume he would soften up joyce with that . Fury also used his best leaning down technique to which would work on joyce for sure . That all badly failed on ngannou Furys performance might be not the best that night but it was also not that lousy some claim .
Lol you're part of why fury thought he would be able to ko ngannou easy. Have seen way too many people pushing the narrative that fury is some top 5 power puncher that hits no less hard than Joshua and Zhang. He started believing in his own punching hype. Joyce is nearly the same height as fury and he came in over 280lb for the Zhang rematch. If anything he would've be the one weighing down fury.
Joe Joyce's trainer basically hinted that Joyce did a number on Ngannou in sparring. https://cdn1.boxing-social.com/app/uploads/2023/08/joe-joyce-francis-nagnnou-1280x720.jpg
This is what Joyce himself had to say about sparring Francis: “He hits heavy if he can land a shot on you. I sparred with him and they were some wicked shots he was throwing at me.” This is coming from a guy with an known iron chin. He actually more or less called the Fury result: He was finally asked if he thought Ngannou could knock Fury out. “Yeah, if Fury is there to hit then he could get nailed with something.” No other boxer entertained the idea of Francis putting up a fight against Fury aside from the one who actually sparred him.
