    1986 was an impressive year for Mike Tyson. His record in that year alone was 13-0-0-11 which he compiled in 11 months. Among his wins were Trevor Berbick for the WBC title, Marvis Frazier, Jose Ribalta, James Tillis, Mitch Green and Jesse Ferguson. Keep in mind he was 19-20 years old in this year. You won’t likely see a prospect have a year like that again

    He was very exciting! I was at the time smarting over Spinks' robbery against Holmes.

    Mike was like a breath of fresh air.

    It really was amazing. But I don’t think we’ll ever see a fighter do what he did in a single year like that again

    Tyson was like a young, hungry lion in 86! He was awesome back then!! (I thought he would hold the HW title for 10 plus years!!)

    Definitely won't see an heavyweight come along that explosive for a long time either.

    In this day and age? Absolutely not. We're lucky to see boxers fight 2 decent opponents in 1 year, let alone nearly half a dozen! Tyson had a hell of a run in 86, easily one of the most impressive single years of any prospect. I agree.

    I just can’t believe the Tyson shuttle exploded as it left the planet, With all that momentum he just took off and then it was just a glorious free fall to rock bottom. “ I’ll be trash, I’ll be scum but I’ll be angelic trash and scum.” Summarised himself pretty well.

    I’ve got respect for every fighter. - where have I said anything untrue? At the height of his powers he was the victim of the biggest upset ever in the business and his life outside the ring became a nightmarish fever dream and then he free fell to the point he was losing to Kevin McBride…

    The thread is speaking of 1986 so if your going to loop in his entire career then -The Tyson shuttle exploded after it made several loops around the planet- would be more accurate.
