Many have called Patterson an ATG. ATG Joe Louis got hurt multiple times and dropped by a 5'8 morbidly obese little fella with minimal athleticism or defence, who would swig beer and eat lots of pork pies before fights... I'm sure Galento would beat Ngannou though! https://images.findagrave.com/photos250/photos/2006/109/8344_114555690085.jpg https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/3d17123a-9bb5-4f00-b7d0-dd9d3298b6f7.jpg
I'd say his resume actually shows he's anything BUT the definition of a champion. He's NOT beating all the top contenders. Barely defending his title.
Why? There is no official GOAT criteria. But an essential part of being a champion in my view is getting off the floor and finding a way, even on your worst night. Ngannou being 0-0 means there's no footage to study and he's got 14-15 years striking experience (MMA and boxing).
You're right about that there is no objective criteria for the goat. You can think that being knocked down by someone who was 0-0 adds to your goat's legacy. That's apart of your criteria but not apart of mine. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
"You can think that being knocked down by someone who was 0-0 adds to your goat's legacy." Yes, Fury got up and won on his worst night. Ngannou would have beaten a huge number of ATG's. But that's purely hypothetical. Imagine if Joshua had been dropped in the 3rd round with a counter left hook to the side of the head; does he get up to win or does he become demoralised, gas out and get stopped? Does Wilder survive if Ngannou is clubbing him to the side of the head and ear with hooks on the inside? How long does Usyk stay on the floor after being hit by an Ngannou bodyshot? The same applies to the likes of Lewis and Wlad, they couldn't take Ngannou power. There's no evidence that Lewis could get up to win after being caught properly by a puncher like Ngannou. Ngannou is stylistically unique in boxing history and has the attributes to beat plenty of name heavies. We will find out in time though.
This content is protected There is no legit ATG for him to fight. So yeah...it will always be pure speculation no matter what he does.
Ngannou's already fought very possibly the future top 2 GOAT. Emanuel Steward approved. You dishonest buffoons can keep pretending that this guy: https://images.findagrave.com/photos250/photos/2006/109/8344_114555690085.jpg Would beat this guy: https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-014737c37806de61934bda6719ae600f-lq
Here's the thing. YOU pretend a guy w/ very little actual boxing skills would beat one with greater skills....because you are a size queen. You aren't going to win throwing 20 punches a round FFS. Nor get pushed to the upper echelon putting up a good show against one who didn't train much for that side show.
