Hard to see it filling a stadium. Apart from the family angle, what's to get excited enough about to buy a ticket here? Hearn will be playing the Benn notoriety card for all it's worth in order to sell tickets and will no doubt also push the 'poor hard done by' angle as well. Would like nothing more than for people to just thumb their noses at the fight if it happens.
Sold out the O2 in a few hours last time out - quicker than Joshua vs Whyte II I must add. Of course it can fill a stadium. They could go to the O2 if they wanted to at extortionate prices I’m sure. This one just has the stadium feel for me though. Outside of Fury vs Joshua, this is the biggest domestic fight right now. People on here can cry all they want, but they will all tune in to see Benn get knocked out.
Not crying and won't be tuning in. Benn is a drug cheat and Hearn nothing better than a drug cheat facilitator. Why would I wish them well? Why would anyone wish them well?
So are David Warner and Steve Smith. The casuals will lap the fight up. At 160 I can only see Eubank winning by stoppage. Eubank is in dreamland after stopping Liam Smith on PPV. He can have easy fights against Conor Benn and Billy Joe Saunders on PPV next and make a load of money.
Cheats yes. Drug cheats no. In any case they took their suspensions on the chin and served them. Even expressed remorse. Big difference to Benn. Huge
The 'people crying' can just see the very probable result. A roided Benn seriously hurting an overmatched opponent. Even on the roids they have no shame in going for old, inferior opponents, or in Jr's case they were very keen for him to cut weight to unsafe levels. At this point it doesn't seem to matter what the fans who are paying attention say. The only thing changing Hearn's mind (and his acolytes such as yourself), is seeing a boxer killed or receive life-changing injuries against a Matchroom fighter who has failed several drugs tests.
Sadly I don't think he would even care about that. The only thing he cares about is if he was then hit in the pocket personally.
I think you and Matchroom think the Benn v Eubank fight is a much bigger deal than it is. It may have sold out the first time around but how many tickets were taken by StubHub or whoever Eddie is tied up with? Also, there has been a lot happen in the last 12 months. 99.99% of people now hate drugs cheat Benn. But not enough to actually spend £100s to go and watch him get beaten. He is no Mayweather who people loved to hate- he is a really crap boxer with a chip on his shoulder who is only known by anyone because of his dad's name. On top of this, Hearn has well and truly got under the fans skin with his constant bullshite about Benn's drug scandal. Over the last year or so Eddie's mask has slipped from being a cheeky chappie to a very bitter individual who has constantly thrown names and dates forward that never materialise. Then you have his weasel side kick Frank Smith scoffing with the builders comment- the public can only be fooled for so long!
Yes I do see this filling a stadium, it’s the biggest domestic fight after Fury AJ. The mainstream crossover is huge, people I know that aren’t boxing fans have been talking about this. Plus Eubank Jr is surprisingly popular so I’m sure with a strong undercard it’ll do well.
Eubank Jr is popular but he's not got a massive following. When he fought Smith a lot of people in the arena would have been scousers supporting Smith
I think it sells a stadium in the summer in london but who the **** wants to be sitting outside in January? It doesn't sellout Cardiff in winter.
[QUOTE="DramaShow, post: 22587331 People on here can cry all they want, but they will all tune in to see Benn get knocked out.[/QUOTE] As a simple matter of courtesy to your fellow forum members please don't confuse legitimate criticism of Benn and his team as crying, or assume that they share the same attitude as you do to matters of sporting ethics. I won't be tuning in because I regard the entire event and those pushing as being tainted by a corruption which threatens a sport I value. I won't be the only one and perhaps you might reflect on the reasons that people have made that decision before dismissing them in such a cursory way?
Oh yeah, it's the damage to his reputation that would make him change his ways. Just a shame we need to wait for something near to a fatality before it happens.
