Baby Butterbean right up there at number 1. Joshua is the laughing stock of the world. @KINGWILDER Adam Smith's commentary - listen, listen and listen again Adam Smith's finest hour on Sky Sports This content is protected
"AJ quitting or all of Wilder’s embarrassing excuses. Both are equally bad." Foreman, Ali and Wlad made some embarrassing excuses ("I was drugged, I saw a friend in the crowd cheering for Ali and became demoralised, Frazier won a white man's decision, I chose to lose"), that's par for the course in boxing history. Getting battered and quitting against the 21st century's answer to Tony Galento is not. "but he’s so slow and is not an elite level guy in boxing." Rahman, McCall, Puritty, Sanders, Brewster, Ruiz etc. were not "elite level" boxers. Fury went in with an unknown quality who may well better than most of those guys and won on his worst night. The forum has Ngannou above 2014 Chisora and 2022 Whyte for instance, Chisora being on the same level as any of Joshua's wins barring Wlad and Whyte being Joshua's 3rd best win. You and I may be slow in a boxing ring, Ngannou's not slow, especially for his size. He's significantly quicker on his feet than 6', 284 lbs untrained Ruiz for instance. "your narrative and agenda." List me all of the boxers in the division who you think would beat Ngannou and whether they would dominate him. Also tell me which boxer in history has anything resembling Ngannou's collection of attributes.
From Dave Meltzer: “As far as U.S. interest goes, while there was interest after the fight as Google searches for the weekend had it second behind only the death of Matthew Perry, but as a PPV it bombed. Television PPV buys were about 11,500. We were told a 56,000 figure streaming on ESPN+. Obviously that figure I can’t double check but the television buying figure we have first-hand strongly accurate numbers on.”
Fury with decades of training and over 30 fights got dropped by an 0-0 novice. The fact that we are even having this discussion highlights YDKSAB.
The excuse making smh. Ngannou could have all the physical attributes in the world, he could possess more genetic gifts than Usain Bolt, doesn’t mean he’s a great boxer. He’s an incredible MMA fighter. Yes he’s slow, slow for even a heavyweight boxer. How can you even begin to justify Fury getting embarrassed by a guy who has never fought in a boxing ring. It’s a completely different sport to MMA. Fury was exposed and embarrassed, his performance was shockingly bad. Chisora from 2014 would not be near AJ’s best win, Whyte, Wlad, Parker, and Pulev are better fighters. Ruiz in the first Joshua fight was not 284 pounds, he was under 270 and he had trained (since he was 5). There is no comparison nearly losing to a guy on his debut who had spent a couple of months training for boxing (MMA training does not count). As for the fighters who would beat Ngannou, I’m not going to list them for you, you can go on boxrec and look at the top 25 to get a good idea. Usyk, Wilder, Zhang are good starters. He has the power to stop anyone, but he still lacks the footwork and ring IQ to consistently beat the best. One thing is for sure, Ngannou would smoke Ortiz.
That is great news as the Box Office Mugs have finally woke up after Hearn's shafting for years with his non elite Heavyweight Fighters. Heard outside the local Gypsy Camp that they reckon 30 million people in the UK watched the fight. Box Office buys do not match the eyes.
John Fury is huge in the USA. The Senate on the advice of the FEDs are refusing him permission to enter the country to fight Mike Tyson and take out the Mafia on the same night.
"doesn’t mean he’s a great boxer." I didn't say Ngannou was a great boxer (neither were McCall, Puritty etc.) but he's good enough to beat high level boxers. Joe Joyce knows this better than we do as he's sparred him: "I told Ngannou after the spar: 'You can come to boxing no problem, this is easy for you'. Ngannou is one of the strongest men you will ever see in any combat sport." - Joe Joyce, 2020 "Francis can bang, he is very strong, I mean, who knows, he could knock Dillian Whyte out man." - Joe Joyce, 2021 "never fought in a boxing ring" This made him an unknown quantity, far more difficult to prepare for and much easier to underestimate. "Yes he’s slow, slow for even a heavyweight boxer." He's quicker of hand and foot than ex-MMA fighter Dillian Whyte (Joshua's 3rd best win) while being much bigger. "Chisora from 2014 would not be near AJ’s best win, Whyte, Wlad, Parker, and Pulev are better fighters" Wlad sure, the others are the same level. Pulev is 1-1 with Chisora, winning in Germany where he was allowed to jab and grab constantly and losing in Britain where the holding was prohibited. Whyte and Parker went to SD's with Chisora, with most on Eyeonthering and Boxrec disagreeing with the verdict. Had Chisora been the A-side rather than the B-side in those fights he gets the nod. "had spent a couple of months training for boxing" He trained in boxing for 5 years before he transitioned to MMA, so you're ignorant as usual. The skills between being an MMA puncher and being a boxer are transferrable, hence McGregor took Mayweather to the 10th and won three rounds. Ngannou's been sparring with Takam for many years, sparred Joyce and no doubt many other heavyweight boxers. "you can go on boxrec and look at the top 25 to get a good idea. Usyk, Wilder, Zhang are good starters." Ok. Let's see. Joshua, Dubois, Wallin, Joyce, Gassiev, Whyte, Hrgovic, Chisora, Bakole, Parker, Ajagba, Anderson, Lerena, Makhmudov, Sanchez, Huni, Miller, Takam, Yoka, Wardley, Cusomano, Kabayel Those are the other names in the current Boxrec top 25. I'm confident that Ngannou beats most of them.
